Sara started following the question "Legal issue re: impersonation - need help" in Twitter.
Sara replied on September 09, 2009 17:29 to the question "Reclaiming a squatter/impersonator account name from twitter" in Twitter:
Romain - I just had the same situation happen to me, after waiting for 4 weeks for a response. They just marked my ticket as "solved" when they did nothing to respond or look into the issue. I'm getting so frustrated as this impersonator continues to slander our company and direct people to their actual website. And unfortunately we don't have the budget at the moment for a legal route.
One would think, if you are the true, legal, trademark owner of a company name, that Twitter would actually take a complaint seriously. I strongly question who it is they have "monitoring" their request for help tickets, that they can just "solve" a request by doing nothing.
Incredibly frustrating.

JG - how did you report the issue? I've reported it several times via email to Twitter Support, and via the online help ticket page (after opening an alternative profile for our company). They keep "resolving" the issue and closing the ticket without actually acknowledging or doing anything. Would love any ideas on how to get their attention and make progress on a solution.
Thanks,
Sara.

I am currently going through this same issue for my company. In our case, it is a competitor that is actively impersonating our company and directing their followers to their website. My attempts to contact Twitter and get this resolved have been met with auto-responses that simply direct me back to the "steps to take to resolve" that I have already been following. I realize they are likely inundated, but I would expect that impersonation (especially of a Trademarked company name) would be met with better response. Please keep us updated as to whether you receive a response and resolution!!-

Sara replied on August 19, 2009 13:46 to the question "Contacting Impersonator" in Twitter:
I am facing a similar issue. A company is impersonating our company name, and directing followers to their site. Sleazy competitive practices to say the least. Because it's so blatant, I haven't bothered trying to contact them, as I know they won't do anything to resolve the issue. My attempts to contact Twitter Support to have this resolved have been frustrating, to say the least. Closed, unresolved tickets, auto-responses that don't address or resolve my issue.
Good luck - I hope the process isn't as long for you as it has been for me in trying to get this resolved.-

I am going through this as well JG. Unfortunately I'm not getting a "real" response from Twitter yet, only automated responses via their ticket system. But I will keep trying. Good luck - I hope you get a resolution quickly. And if you do - please let me know how you did, perhaps I can learn from it!!-

Sara replied on August 19, 2009 13:41 to the question "Why won't twitter delete an account impersonating me?" in Twitter:
Ryn0 - I read recently in another thread the resolution someone having your same issue found. Because the impersonator was using their email address, the person simply clicked the "forgot password" and had a new, temporary password emailed to them - they changed the password and deleted the account. I hope this helps!

Sara replied on August 19, 2009 13:35 to the problem "How can i stop an impersonator?" in Twitter:
I have been trying to contact Twitter Support for over a month in regards to another company (a competitor) that is blatantly impersonating my company on Twitter. I have followed all of their "steps" as outlined in the above link and all I receive is automated responses directing me to the "steps to take" page and then my ticket is closed. I'm beyond frustrated and in the meantime, this company continues to impersonate us, directing followers to their site.
I realize there is a difference between personal impersonation and competitive practices, but the end result is no different and it saddens me that Twitter puts users into an auto-response cycle from which there never seems to be a resolution. I have resubmitted my issue several times now, each time after the ticket is closed without a proper response or resolution to our problem.-
