Well glad to know that AME is finally working :-) even though after a system crash.
I would need you to run by a couple of tests for us which would help us in isolating the error. However to run these you would have to bring the machine back to the original state (not running in compatibility mode)
1. Start --> Run --> eventvwr
2. Click on Application on the LHS of the event viewer
3. All the application errors seen would be listed on RHS
4. Launch AME, i assume it would continue to crash while launching if the system has been restored to the NON-compatibility mode
5. Go back to the event viewer and double click the last few entries, starting from the very latest
6. Look for "adobe media encoder" in the description field of the error window
7. Copy paste the description and provide that as your response.
Since AME has crashed on multiple occasions before on this system, even before you restore the machine to the "NON-compatibility" mode, you could provide some additional information from the earlier errors reported in event viewer
1. Start --> Run --> eventvwr
2. Click on Application on the LHS of the event viewer
3. All the application errors seen would be listed on RHS
4. Menu View --> Find
5. Type "adobe media encoder" in the Description field and search for any of the older errors logged by the event viewer
6. Provide the description of the error
I am assuming that you would find multiple errors since this has been tested on the machine on multiple occasions, but the description should remain consistent across the errors since the crash has always been seen at the time of launch. It would however be great if you can indeed verify this.

This has us a bit stumped, i am afraid. Would it be possible for you to get into a Connect session with us. Where are you based and assuming that it is US, would an early morning time be suitable for you. If yes, i can send out the details of the meeting to you separately by e-mail.
In all likelihood, you must be on a 32 Bit system, but you can confirm this by looking up the steps @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218

So, the error dump from Microsoft was not of much help. Could you please answer the following queries:
1. Has any of the CS3 application ever co-existed with AME CS4 application on this system and then the CS3 application was un-installed
2. Are you able to launch & work with Flash CS4 without any issues
3. Have you ever run the Adobe update on this system. If not, could you please run the Adobe updater from "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater6\Adobe_Updater.exe" and update only AME to the latest version (CS4.0.2)
4. Does the system have XP-64 bit OS installed on it.
My apologies if this seems like too much, but trying to resolve the issue remotely does necessitate this flow of information :-)

OK, so i ran a few tests on a Windows XP SP3 system with the help of a colleague and did not have any issues in launching the Media Encoder. This is a regular Dell 620 system with 1 GB RAM.
Can you delete the following files from C:\Documents and Settings\<user name="true">\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0 and try to launch again.
1. AMEPrefs.xml
2. AppPrefs.xml
3. batch.xml
Let me know if this works. Again, do you see any error message when launching Media Encoder or Just nothing happens. Were you ever able to launch it successfully on this system and if yes, was there ever an abnormal termination of the application. </user>

More RAM never hurts :-), but in our tests, we have run AME on 1 GB as well so i am sure that it launches.
However Windows NT is not a platform we have tested on or is even supported. The System Requirements can be looked up @ http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/s....
Have you tried this on a Windows XP or Vista system and seen the same issue.

OK, looks like there could be a little misunderstanding here :-). I believe what you are looking for is "Flash Media Live Encoder" which allows for online streaming and encoding on the fly.
This is unlike the "Flash Media Encoder" or "Adobe Media Encoder" which is used mainly to convert the "offline" video files to FLV, F4V or to various other available formats.
I am afraid i have little information to share further with you on the "Flash Media LIVE Encoder" and their plans for OS X.

Have you launched the Parent Product with which AME was installed at least once. Since AME is a application installed with either Premiere Pro or Flash Professional, it needs to see that the parent product is launched and activated to start working itself.
If this is not the issue, is there any error message seen?

Nopes, the version does not seem to be the culprit here. You can however upgrade on the trial version as well as long as your trial version is valid i.e. This one seems to be a machine specific issue. Is there any out of the ordinary hardware or software installed on this system. Have you tried installing on another system and see if this works.
Also there is a Crash reporter from Adobe also included in the Media Encoder application, could you send me the dump from that or even from Microsoft crash reporter to anylyze this further.
