I ordered a TV product and I never received it. My tracking number through USPS states that I did receive it with a time stamp. I know myself and no one else at my home received this large box. I did not sign for this package and requested a signiture of proof of delivery from USPS and they still have not furnished that to me nor will they be able to because I DIDN'T SIGN FOR IT. It bothers me alot that this can happen and that this product was well over $100.00. Some lucky person will be enjoying my product. It is insured through the party that shipped it to me, however it is terrible that I had to go through this process and experience with USPS and that no one seems to care. They can't prove that anyone signed for this and if my mail carrier was stupid enough to leave it outside on my busy street someone or a neighbor could of taken it?? (USPS) they do not care they just keep repeating that the package was delivered on September 27 at 3pm in which I was home. This is very upsetting to me and I feel no one wants to take responsibility regarding this matter at USPS.
Your posting did make me feel better because I am not the only one that didn't receive a package and that this seems to be a repeated problem with USPS they seem to want our business but not address any customer service problems/issues that occur.

you are just one of many customers who are victims of the USPS. write your congressman and at least get a written apology. Fraud and watse is condoned in the USPS. go to www.USPS. com and look at the reports available on line under the USPS inspection service. try some federal blogs. the USPS sticks it to the customers and employees. i wish you the best of luck next time – nobody, on October 12, 2008 19:50

you go girl. i worked at the USPS and your package was most likely delivered to someone else who kept your package.
As an employee of the USPS my mail came up missing and the superviosr told me someone else picked up the mail with my persmission . MAJOR!!!!major problem, I live alone and no one picks up my mail for me. the USPS is full of slack workers who go to work like millions of Americans to draw a check. they can be fired but so much neoptism goes own and corruption it really doesn't happen unless you use your sick leave then they get rid of you. however misdeliverd packages are not traceable. Once the package is scanned as delivered it's a done deal. Make someone sign for the the package and verify the signature. some mail persons will forge the names of the customers and still deliver the package in office . Always verify Express mail delivery, they will do everthing to keep you from getting a refund or failing the delivery time as promised even if it means delivering the package in the office. that's why you may see deliver times when you were at home and you know for a fact no mail man has been by your house. ps the next time you see a mail truck parked for over 30 minutes call the authorites for help like the Police or Fire department that way you can be sure that the mail man is ok and not just sleep on the job and have it properly recorded. calling the USPS to report it won't do any good. they will just cover it up. – nobody, on October 12, 2008 19:36

i used to work for thre USPS and your packages can be scanned de-livered when no so thing ever took place. the USPS is good for scanning packages as delivered so that the reecord shows that the USPS has met or exceeded the delivery standards. the USPS does what ever it takes to ensure customer don't get refunds and have the computer show what ever it takes to make the customer a liar. that is not so say that all are dishonest however you can rest assured you are not the only one. the stamp machines used take customers money and they would tell us not to give the person the stamps or refund the money . the customer would have to leave contact information taped to the machine and hope the technician received it and returned the money. i worked for over 20 years and believe me they screw the employees to. tell all your friends always watch and verify actual physical receipt of any services and complain on line for confirmation of a complaint. the USPS is quite dishonest with it's delivery standards. i aplogize that you experenced what you did, your books could be in the breakroom or bathroom for enjoyale reading materials.

It is unfortunate that the salesperson you worked with did not have proper training, which is unusual at an authorized Thomasville store. My experience has been excellent with Thomasville. They always replace furniture with manufacturing defects. The finish on the dresser you referred to is minimal, to show the natural beauty of the wood. Most nickel based metals will discolor the wood, easily remedied by putting a felt tab on the bottom. In lower quality polyurethane finished furniture, this is not an issue. All fine furniture needs care to preserve the natural wood. As for the country of origin, the tags at the store show where the furniture was made. Thomasville still makes all its' custom upholstery in Hickory, North Carolina.

Horrible company ... Thomasville. We are waiting over 6 months now for our furniture and they will not answer our inquiries. They had promised 6-8 weeks delivery originally and now will not answer our inquires. Do NOT recommend this company at all. – Dissatisfied with Thomasville, on October 06, 2008 23:30-

I appreciate people willing to share their product experiences, good or bad. I'm sure you won't believe me, Emma, given how you seem to feel in general, but I'm actually a telecommunications design engineer, with no stock or interest in any furniture company. Given the fact that so many contributors have had negative experiences with Thomasville, and that I myself had Thomasville furniture misrepresented to me by a salesperson, the evidence so far is not in their favor. It is just fractionally possible, even in a cynical and greedy world, that one or two products may still be made in the US. If my custom-built furniture doesn't live up to its reputation, at least it won't be because I haven't done due diligence.
Thanks to those who have shared their furniture experiences.
In the matter of websites, however, I find that this one A) never sent me a password, and B) won't let me sign on again to post this comment, and C) "forgot your password" apparently is just a form of expression. I will log a new account and then I will no longer use this website.

Emma,
I posted a comment here about my experiences with Thomasville not to do harm to the company but so that others can be aware.
Thomasville's sales people refused to tell me where the furniture I was considering purchase of was made. They would only say that the company had been making furniture in North Carolina for over a hundred years implying that the furniture was still made there.
In hindsight, I feel they purposely misreprented the truth and I paid the price of not being more diligent in determining the country of origin of my furniture. The price I paid was in receiving damaged furniture that took nearly a year and a great deal of phone calls and effort to get replaced.
According to the rep from the Thomasville store, the damage was caused by shipping from China (or "overseas" in Thomasville-speak) and 85 percent of their furniture incurs shipping damage so the point of manufacture can affect whether a consumer will receive a satisfactory piece of furniture the first time and it is an important question to ask.
The problem for consumers is that it is virtually impossible to find out where furniture is made in advance of purchase. The salespeople won't tell you. When I have e-mailed the companies and asked, they won't answer and the furniture is arranged in showrooms so that no "Made in China" tags are visible so we, as consumers must share knowledge and experiences to help each other.
I wish Thomasville no harm but buyers should be aware of others experiences so that they can make informed decisions.

I own a furniture restoration shop. About 5 years ago my wife and I went into the furniture store and inspected the Thomasville Martinique Bedroom furniture that was on display. My wife and I ordered the set that we looked at. The Quality of what we recieved was so different from what was on display, that I went back to the store thinking I may have overlooked the quality of the set on display. Nope! The set delivered to me was partical board and veneers unlike the set on display. The drawers were not dovetailed or aligned properly, unlike the set on display. One drawer accually fell apart as I pulled out on it. When my wife and I went to move a bedside chest down the wall a little, (lifting by the top only) the entire top pulled off exposing the glue and staples which was all that was holding it on. Before the purchase, I had verbally confirmed with the salesman that what I was ordering would be the same as what was on display. I went back to the salesman with the problem. His response was that Broyhill had done him the same way and he just kept it. Not me! I made the store give me a full refund/credit toward the Lexington/Bob Timberlake cherry bedroom set. It was a couple thousand more but the Bob Timbelake brand is absolutely top of the line in quality and I absolutely admire the craftsmanship. I've never been back in that store since and they accually closed the doors about two years ago. I feel that this is common practice with Thomasville. If they want it manufactured in China then they need to be upfront with the quality and not be fraudulent.

I really don't think the posts here are trying to hurt Thomasville. I am an advocate of Consumer Reports and as a wise consumer I research products before I spend my hard earned dollars. We need to let people know of problems or issues we've encountered when dealing with any company. Silence is acceptance. Emma was right when she said "we can only sell what you will purchase" and as long as we continue to buy we are validating the 'quality' that is being sold to us. If we don't like the ride we need to get off the train. Just think, if Americans had implemented Edward Deming's quality control theory we would be the manufacturing giant of the world instead of Japan. – BT, on September 26, 2008 00:18

Exactly what I'm talking about, keep deluding yourself that Century is made in the US, you will be so dissappointed when it comes in that it is stamped China, Phillipeans or Viet Nam. Hell you might even post that the nice sales people in NC "incorrectly represented" their product. The point is Kim, that when people post negatively with only the intent to hurt the company that they just did business with, what good does it do? You buy into the fact that Thomasville is crap after reading and delude yourself into thinking that Century will be better...or maybe you work for Century and this is just a good plug for their furniture. Got to go relax a little. – emma, on September 25, 2008 23:43
