Tracker is designed to encourage breaking things down into fine-grained stories. Tasks are just reminders and should not need to be estimated. In our experience that is just too big an investment of time that should be spent on implementation.
Point estimates are relative and rather vague anyway. You shouldn't need to re-estimate a story after adding tasks. If you do, you could consider making some of the tasks into stories.

You can do this by using a filter.
http://www.pivotaltracker.com/help/ap...
pivotaltracker.com/services/v2/projects/PROJECT_ID/stories?filter=id%3A1%2C2%2C3
(the %3A is a colon and the %2C's are commas, so the filter is actually id:1,2,3)

Jason, since you indicated that you are breaking stories into tasks, you will be happy to know that we have just added this as an experimental feature, which you can enable in your project's settings.
The enter key saves a task and your cursor goes right back into the new task field. It doesn't get any faster than that.

Mike Schwab replied on August 06, 2009 13:52 to the idea "Add a 'Blocked' status" in Pivotal Labs:
EPM, have you tried using labels to indicate when stories are blocked? Labels function as saved searches, so your scrum master will always have an easy way to view all blocked stories.
You could also use multiple namespaced labels like 'blocked: design' and 'blocked: hosting'. That will give you a more actionable result than a generic Blocked state would.
Another approach would be to use tasks, which is a brand new feature. If a story seems blocked just add a task indicating what you think needs to be done to unblock it.
