I think rating is typically a feature for those dealing with a big music collection. I like Songbird, but the rating system should be better.

  I would like to rate my files - quick. So (global) keyboard shortcuts for rating would be nice.

  Ratings are quite important for me. Syncing this kind of metadata between computers is needed. I don't care about the way it works if it's smart and fast enough. I can imagine even a solution like a tool which can be used for exporting a database of ratings and a wizard to merge the rating database content with the local library.
  


• File formats and rating. There are several albums on my HDD both in mp3 and in FLAC. I would like to have tool to be able to sync the ratings between the different formats, an interface where I can check similar files and ratings if I want. (This matters when you rate your collection in a musical way, not for marking file quality or something similar.)

Okay, I understand this well, however that's clearly not the way to deal with this kind of problems. Users don't want to lose the important metadata under any circumstances. If you can't provide a better solution to help moving libraries (or parts of libraries) from one machine to another one, it's a bad thing. – scorchio, on September 09, 2009 12:11
