Presentation does not show up as an imageMy presentation is on line but there's no image for it, just a generic icon. How do I make it show up

I am having the same problem all over again with a new file. I will send you the file. This is very frustrating as I use a similar service (www.issuu.com) and it can upload and convert the exact same file within about 5 minutes. – Scott "Q" Marcus, on June 22, 2009 17:04

I cannot upload keynote -- no matter what I do.I have tried on several different days, with different browsers to upload a Keynote (.key) presentation. It's 14 MB in size. I go to single upload, fill in all the information, click upload; the bar shows something is happening -- it says it will take some time.
After several hours, still nothing. (I am using a very fast cable connect so I know that's not the problem as this is the only site where I have trouble with it.)
I tried an email upload. I got back a message saying it was being processed. It's been 2 days. Still nothing.
What am I doing wrong?

I hate to be stupid, but what is an API? I've seen the terms more and more lately but can't seem to lock it down. And how would it help my magazine?
Thanks. – Scott "Q" Marcus, on May 06, 2009 16:42

Additional idea about why it's good to get subscriber information. I do regular surveys with my clients in other areas. I would find it very useful to be able to survey my subscribers (using polldaddy, surveymonkey, or constant contact) to see what they liked, what they didn't, how I could improve, etc. It would only be taken by those people who want to -- but it would allow me to provide better content and grow my magazine while serving my clients better.
Just a thought...

I think the "push" thing is a good start. Of course, what started this whole discussion was me wanting access to who's buying my magazines so I can notify them when the next issue is available. THAT -- at least IMHO -- is the MOST important thing I'm looking for. If I have their contact info (provided they want me to have it); I can notify them when a new issue is published. It's not quite a "subscription" as they'd have to buy each issue, but at least they are informed. – Scott "Q" Marcus, on April 27, 2009 20:43

One other point that I'd like to add. I've had several people ask me how to subscribe and I've had to embarrassingly say to them (with toe in sand), "Um, uh, you can't unless you do it through me directly." Overall, I don't mind that because I can get their contact info, etc. However, I'd be much happier if they could do it on line and I could follow up with them and make sure they're getting everything they need. – Scott "Q" Marcus, on April 27, 2009 17:21

Printing problems: Color & registration are offI just got my 2nd order of magazines. The color is much darker than the first order. I can live with that -- but I'm surprised by the difference. However, on about 50% of the covers, the registration is off.
I have attached a scan of one of the covers so someone can see it and have circled where you the print is off. It's not always on the same section but it's always on the cover -- so far. I have not checked every issue but enough to see the problem. The regsitration on some is worse than what I'm showing. On others, it's not as bad -- or not even a problem. However, the darkness is a consistent issue.
It makes them look bad and I'm surprised that this would happen. I worked very hard on making a high-quality magazine that's visually appealing and this degrades the look.
What can be done about this and why is this happening?
Thank you.

I firmly believe that sales -- done ethically, with the buyer in mind -- is the ULTIMATE form of customer service. How can I serve my customers if they do not have the option of letting me know who they are? I agree with Ken. The problem of privacy (although now made somewhat moot by Ken's comments) can be addressed by an opt-out or opt-in box. – Scott "Q" Marcus, on April 11, 2009 02:17

I think if there was an option for the buyer, it would take care of the whole thing. Being that my background is in customer service and marketing, I really want to be able to thank my subscribers and -- if they're interested -- give them other things they might want. I think that's a service to them.
And, quite frankly, it's an opportunity for me (and MagCloud) to increase our base. I'm not advocating spam by any stretch of the imagination, just good service. – Scott "Q" Marcus, on April 02, 2009 21:11

Architecton,
Even though I posted the original comment, I have to agree with you. That's a great point. However, it would be nice to at least give the buyer the option to be contacted by the publisher. At a bookstore, I have "frequent flyer" points and I therefore look forward to getting correspondence from them. So, I'll meet you half way.
Good point.

Magclould needs to tell publishers who bought their magsI think its vital that we -- as publishers -- get the contact information of who orders from us. I like to send my clients a thank you. I follow up with them. And from my point of view, I want to know where they heard about me. All of those allow me to do a better job. We're working with one arm tied behind our backs. Please make this top priority.-

A comment on the question "How do I know if someone in particular ordered?" in MagCloud:
Thanks again for the reply. Regarding my requirements, I'd love to see the details of who ordered so I can keep in touch with them and remind them of my magazine, etc. It's also good from my marketing point of view to see where they heard about me, etc. I love the push distribution idea too. – scott, on March 19, 2009 18:52

Thanks for that answer. I'll wait a few more days to see if it changes. However, do we get a more comprehensive report than just "number sold." Not that I distrust MagCloud, but I would presume there's some sort of formal sales report monthly (or so). Also, are people able to "subscribe" to any issue as it comes out or do they have to buy each one when it shows up? thanks. – scott, on March 18, 2009 02:28

How do I know if someone in particular ordered?I have 3 people who all say they've ordered on line. They are all friends. I believe them. My sales show only 2 (beyond what I have done). Am I able to see who ordered?
