I see your 2% issue when I have lightning installed. When I uninstall it, and minimize the postbox window I see 0.0 to 0.2% for Postbox in the activity monitor.

is the account set up as a pop account using a universal inbox? that could explain why it isn't listed on the left hand pane if it is under local folders...

What error message do you receive when you try to download new mail?

For grins try right clicking on your inbox choosing properties and then rebuild index. Does that fix the problem?

Postbox handles multiple identites (tools / accounts / account / manage identies). Return Receipts can be configured from tools / accounts / account / return receipts.

junk mail works using a bayesian algorithm where you train it with good and bad mail. It also has hooks if your server uses spam assassin.
