Hi Ashokv,
Name.com accepts paypal.com as well as Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. We do not accept bank transfers at this time.
When you backorder a domain, it is not registered immediately. We will attempt to register the backordered domain as soon as it becomes available for registration. If the backorder fails, a complete refund is provided.
Our whois privacy service is free.
We do not offer support via IM at this time. However, we are discussing this as a possibility. Please feel free to contact our support team via phone or email. We would be happy to answer any further questions you have.
Thank you,
Scott

Jason,
I am glad that we were able to assist in resolving your issue, and we understand that you are upset. I would have enjoyed addressing all of your concerns during our conversation, but would be happy to address them at this time.
The practice of pointing *unused* domains, and sub-domains, to a parking page in order to monetizing them, is practiced by nearly every domain name registrar in the world. It is one of the primary ways that we, as an industry, are able to keep registration prices low. It is this practice that allows us and other registrars to offer the support and the tools that we do while still providing competitive pricing.
You should not see our parking page as long as DNS records are correctly set for your domains. An error with the DNS settings caused the issue you experienced. In addition to our free DNS management services, our URL forwarding, and name servers management services allow you to point your domain as well as all sub-domains as you wish. If you have any questions regarding our additional domain management services, just let me know.
As for our transparency on the matter, we do touch on this in our registration agreement in section 17. Name.com would love to keep you as a customer but understand that you've got a sour taste in your mouth we may not be able to remedy. If you do decide to go elsewhere for your registration needs be sure to read the registration agreement to ensure that you're amenable to their use of any domain name that you are not actively utilizing.
If we can keep you as a customer, steps can be taken to prevent your domains, and all sub-domains, from pointing to our parking page. If I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact me directly via my email address, or the phone number I previously provided.
Best Regards,
Scott

Dear Jason,
After further review we believe you can resolve this issue by updating the CNAME record that points *.gardensity.com to gardensity.com. What you will want to do is remove the "." at the end of the record answer. So *.gardensity.com will point to gardensity.com Feel free to contact me at scott@name.com if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Scott

Scott McBreen replied on October 06, 2009 16:58 to the problem "Can't add my own nameservers!" in Name.com:
Hello,
The issue is that neither of these name servers have been registered. If you would like create your own name servers, and you would like to assign IP addresses to the name servers ns.saidmade.com and ns2.saidmade.com, please log into your Name.com account, and click directly on your domain. On the domain management page, click on the "Manage Name Servers" tab located on the right hand side of the screen. You will then be able to register your own name servers, and assign ns.saidmade.com and ns2.saidmade.com to the domains of your choice. Please let me know how we can be of further assistance.
Thank you,
Scott

Dear Cy,
Thank you for your suggestion regarding the auto-reply. This is something we will consider further.
Regarding your transfer request, I see that two domain names have transferred successfully. These domains are currently located in your account. However, your registrar has rejected our transfer request of the third domain name. There may be several reasons why they have rejected the transfer request. Contacting your current registrar is the best way to find out why our request was rejected.
Once the issue has been resolved with your current registrar, please let us know. We can re-initiate your transfer request at that time.
Thank you,
Scott

Hello,
Name.com received a charge back from your credit card processor for your domain purchase. Because your credit card processor reversed the charges, your domain name has been transferred to a holding account.
Your credit card company can provide further details regarding this reversal. We would also be happy to discuss this issue in greater detail. Please feel free to reach me at scott@name.com with any further details you may have regarding the charge back. We would be happy to provide further assistance.
Thank you,
