ScottF replied on August 27, 2008 05:42 to the problem "Photosynth ran out of disk space?" in Microsoft Live Labs:
Photosynth requires a disk cache of about 2x the size of the original images. Sometimes the space reserved for Volume Shadow Copy interferes with this estimate, but if you have 713GB free, sounds like we're just not calculating your free disk correctly. We use your system disk - is that the volume with 713GB free?
ScottF reported a problem in Microsoft Live Labs on August 26, 2008 22:32:
Photosynth.net interruption caused some synths to fail between 1:30 and 2:30pm todayWe had a hardware failure this afternoon, and needed to fail over to a backup. During this operation, we rolled photosynth.net back a few minutes back in time. If your synth failed, or seems stuck, please give it another name and try it again. Sorry folks.. :-(

I've noticed that you can't get back to the install page (where we discuss system requirements) after installing - we'll look into that!
Photosynth runs on Windows XP SP2 and SP3, and Vista, and requires IE7 or Firefox 2 or 3. There are a variety of video cards out there and we haven't tested them all, but the general requirement is that you have a minimum of 32mb of video RAM, with 64MB or more recommended. DirectX7 is recommended. You should have at least 1gb of system RAM and a 2.0GHz CPU to get the most out of Photosynth. You'll also need a broadband network connection. On the Mac, Bootcamp will work, but not Parallels.
Hope that helps..

After you've synthed your photos, and uploaded them to Photosynth.net, we have to do some work in order to get them written to our back-end. This can take anywhere between 5 to 40 minutes (or more), depending on our server load.
If your synth is stuck in "publishing" all day, it could be broken. You may want to try synthing it again, or checking back here at GetSatisfaction, or look at our blog to see what's up.

I viewed the National Geographic Sphinx synth and the images are present on the storage server, so there must be a networking problem between the storage servers and you. We store the points and images side by side though, so if you can get points, you should see images. This leads me to think that there is a proxy somewhere in there? Try perhaps wifi at a cafe.. :-)

Hi, I looked at your Sake Brewery synth (http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=4...), and it seems quite sharp. Are there some details you're concerned about, or are the images not resolving properly for you?
