A comment on the problem "Lovely on Mac, poor rendering on PC" in typekit:
You should detect if it's a Windows computer and exclude that, not detect Macs. Typekit works great on Linux too and you would be excluding quite a few Linux users including me. – Elijah Grey, on September 15, 2009 19:55
Elijah Grey asked a question in typekit on September 15, 2009 19:51:
So where and how can I submit my-open-source-typeface-here?Title says it all.
Elijah Grey reported a problem in typekit on September 15, 2009 19:46:
"Trial" account is very misleading. It leaves me to believe my account will expire and that I will eventually have to purchase the paid service. As the title says. Just because you can get more people to pay using deceptive methods doesn't mean it's a good idea.
I recommend that you call the a free account "Free" or "Basic" as not to overly mislead people.
Elijah Grey replied on September 15, 2009 19:23 to the update "Typekit Browser Support" in typekit:
Please stop using browser detection. If you must use some kind of detection, use RENDERING ENGINE detection. Typekit.com thinks that Shiretoko (Firefox 3.5.x's nightlies) and Namoroka (Firefox 3.6.x's nighlies) don't support @font-face when they do. Just parse the Gecko/VERSION_HERE string to see if a Mozilla-based browser supports @font-face. Many browsers are built on top of Gecko and that is why it should be the Gecko version you're checking for not the "Firefox" version.
A comment on the problem "ID scripts use uppercase tag names (invalid XHTML)" in IntenseDebate:
It's not the validity that I'm concerned about (an XHTML-compliant browser actually validates the XHTML and doesn't render the page if it's invalid), it's that there is no such thing as SCRIPT in application/xhtml+xml so document.createElement("SCRIPT") is the same thing as document.createElement("FOOBAR") – Elijah Grey, on August 20, 2009 20:24
A comment on the problem "ID scripts use uppercase tag names (invalid XHTML)" in IntenseDebate:
I said ID scripts not ID script tags. For example in look at all of the document.createElement calls in from intensedebate.com/js/wordpressTemplateCommentWrapper2.php. Also, make sure to use .toLowerCase() when using nodeName (which is all-caps). This has nothing to do with the plugin, but with the ID service itself. – Elijah Grey, on August 16, 2009 01:10

Allow basic XHTML and replace HTML (<b>, <i>, etc.) with XHTML equivalentPlease allow usage of basic harmless X/HTML tags and replace HTML tags with their HTML equivalent (so you can use ID on an application/xhtml+xml site).
Basic useful tags that anyone should be able to use include: <code>, <pre>, <q>, <blockquote>, <abbr>, <cite>, <strong>, <em>, <kbd>, <ul>, <ol>, <li>, <dl>, <dt>, <dd>, <a>, and <address>.
All tag names should also be converted to lowercase as uppercase is invalid XHTML.

ID scripts use uppercase tag names (invalid XHTML)I reported reported multiple times over the past year for you to use lowercase tag names in your scripts (to make them work in XHTML). Every time I have been told that it will be fixed right away (to no avail). Please don't lie to me and say that you will fix something if you never plan on fixing it. Don't just tell me that you "will fix it soon". It would take almost no effort to replace "SCRIPT" with "script", etc. Only reply after you actually FIX this.

Elijah Grey shared an idea in Get Satisfaction on April 01, 2009 00:19:
Allow periods in company support boards' URIsI think GetSatisfation should allow periods in company support forum' URIs. example_com doesn't look good for example.com, Inc.
I don't even think IE 1.0 would treat example.pdf as a pdf file as long as it is sent with an HTML MIME type. Also, if you do add support for periods and a company already has their support forum at foobar_example instead of foobar.example, would you allow it to be changed if the company requested it?
I also noticed that when you try to use them, you get this surprising error "Domain can't be saved. Please only use letters, numbers, underscores or dashes for your company's url on Get Satisfaction".
It's surprising because the warning to the right says "No spaces. only numbers, letters and underscores" and doesn't mention anything about dashes, which are preferred over underscores in many cases.-
