Seth Kenvin replied on June 06, 2009 17:50 to the problem "Account Disabled" in Market7:
Hi Rick. Appologies for the annoyance. Your account getting disabled was a human error. We were making some revisions at the request of a customer and your account was mistakenly one that got disabled. This is now resolved.
In the page you received with the "Please contact customer support" quote, that text should have been a mailto link to the "support@market7.com" email address. And GetSatisfaction is a forum we do use for (among other things) customer support -- so your effort has connected to us this way. Also, the 415-981-8000 number on our Web site does get monitored.
However, we acknowledge that mechanisms of outreach to support should be clearer than they currently are. We will consider how to make these options more evident whenever using video.Market7, and will follow up here when we implement measures soon.
Thank you for sharing your experience so we can strive to better serve. Sorry again for this episode. Please continue providing feedback that helps us improve video.Market7.

The Production Brief is a module that we believe stands to be improved for better utility, and it will be getting attention this summer. Pretty soon developing and modifying questions will become more flexible, template functionality will be available to save & re-use sets of questions that may be applicable to additional projects, media will be able to be uploaded to go with particular answers, and approval methodologies will take on more complexion (ex: assign approval authority to particular project participants).
Alternative question formats, like multiple-choice, is an excellent suggestion. Not certain to make it into the next set of production brief initiatives (we'll poll users more (& additional get-satisfaction comments are welcome & influential). Regardless, that's certainly something we'll plan to address. It can also allow for voting & surveying on the Production Brief, which can add dimension to this module.
The "dream" to which rex refers is very clever & ambitious! We'll love to do something like that, but full disclosure, that initiative's likely further in our future. (but again, user chatter on the desirability of this helps us assess & prioritize (so, thanks rex!))-

Seth Kenvin replied on April 07, 2009 11:02 to the question "Storage File Size" in Market7:
Storage is based on sizes of uploaded files, and transcoded content prepared for presentation in video.Market7's Annotative Player does not count towards storage. Originally uploaded files are retained and are available for project team members to download in their native formats.
Transcoding can be performed for presentation in the Annotative Player from most popular digital formats. For best results, Market7 recommends video be sized 545 pixels by 374 pixels and be in one of the following video formats:
1. Audio Video Interweave (.avi)
- Video Codecs: M-JPEG or AC3
- Audio Codecs: DivX or AC3
2. Windows Media Video file (.wmv)
3. Quicktime Movie (.mov)
- Video Codecs: H264, DVCPro or MPEG4
- Audio Codecs: MPEG4 or AAC
4. Flash Video (.flv)
- Video Codecs: On2 VP6 or H264
- Audio Codecs: AAC or MP3
5. Motion Pictures Experts Group version 4 - MPEG-4 (.mp4)
- Video Codec: MPEG4
- Audio Codec: AAC
6. Motion Pictures Experts Group - MPEG (.mpg)
- Video Codecs: MPEG-2 or MPEG
- Audio Codec: AAC

video.Market7 software release from Mar 4 ‘09We've very substantially enhanced the sophistication of our Events and Tasks modules during the last month or so, and it's in large part leading towards a new module we plan to unveil during April. A few screen captures showing the efforts in action can be seen on this blog post:

video.Market7 software release from Feb 18 ‘09From blog post: http://bit.ly/M7Feb18
Annotative Player
* We’ve taken several steps to enhance transcoding of uploaded files and Flash play robustness, and as a result video quality experiences should be improved
* Expanded and more efficient comment viewing area so more comments on a video can be simultaneously seen
* Highlight of comment during play lingers a little longer to be more notable
* The on-screen highlighting has thicker teal border and offsetting yellow fill to be more notable over the video
* The buttons that provide frame-back / forward when in pause mode, now also provide skip-back / forward by three seconds when in play mode
* Comment sort choices expanded to include by-commenter (in addition to by-video-timeline and by-when-comment-posted)
* Organization of comment export page is cleaned to be more legible and useful
* Several design and usability improvements to previously existent functionality
Event Management
* Conflict notification when a member of an event has simultaneous events scheduled in any video.Market7 project
* Single button to import event to own calendar or send to others, regardless of what kinds of email and personal schedule software people use
* Address of a location can be modified once and proliferate throughout all events scheduled to occur at the location
* And again, several design and usability improvements to what we’ve had available for Events for a while
Other video.Market7 enhancements
* Enhanced filtering by role in Team Management module — the selected role highlighted in yellow
* When starting a new project, have access to teammates from prior projects according to their names (not just their email addresses)

Our next release, to go live in a couple of weeks, will include revision to the activity feed. We will consider this request towards it. Whether or not this makes it in, we can certainly over time plan some approach to requesting and getting confirmation of a project team member accessing a particular file.
Seth Kenvin replied on February 10, 2009 06:53 to the question "Team Management status broken?" in Market7:
Thanks again Michael. I appreciate your interest in this topic.
You are referring to the activity feed portion of our service, which is something we set up very early in our development efforts and subsequently have not directed sufficient attention towards maintaining and enhancing. It is scheduled for an overhaul to begin in our development efforts next week with reconciliation in a code release we have scheduled for very early March.
We are aware that there is a particular bug in excessive, and advance reporting of invitation acceptance. Looking at the above-the-fold section of the team module should indicate whether or not an invitation is accepted yet, but it's wrong for us to allow conflicting and buggy reporting elsewhere. We will explore eradicating this bug even more quickly
Seth Kenvin replied on February 04, 2009 14:24 to the problem "Script Row Alignment Problem" in Market7:
Thanks Brent, and we know this needs attention. As you suggest "shots within scenes" is a roadmap item, currently slated for Q2. Getting encouragement from users like you makes us consider potential to accelerate.
We will sooner than that revisit potential for us to have much better what-you-see-is-what-you-get vertical alignment consistency of draft / write mode of script and publish / view mode of script. There have been some technical challenges getting that to work in the past, but perhaps some fresh energy and consideration of new technical tools we have could improve situation.
We are grateful to have dedicated users like you and to have the multifaceted suite of functional modules that have evolved. It is tricky to address the increasingly rich set of requests that we get. But the script module is a foundation of our offering. And we particularly appreciate the most ambitious users of it which certainly includes you. And we do want to have the long and rich scripts you develop in video.Market7 work even better for you. Shots is among a number of ambitions we have to boost the value of our Collaborative Script module.

Seth Kenvin reported a problem in Market7 on May 20, 2008 01:41:
Necessary improvement of annotative player in video.market7Hello Market7 pilot users.
We are sorry for poor performance of our annotative player module. This is the environment in which you can view, comment on, and interact with others about uploaded video. It has had a few bugs since we first provided it for you about a month ago, and instead of improvement, more bugs have come on as we've tried to enhance it.
We realize this can be frustrating as you try to use the module. It frustrates us too. The annotative player is a solution for one of the most acute problems we identified during our field research that included conversations with many of you. It should provide a superior environment for organized, clear and consensual communications that efficiently drive editing and post production processes.
Improving the annotative player is a priority. We expect several substantial improvements in the new code release to video.market7 which is to occur next Tuesday May 27, and we hope that the issues we've identified will be entirely resolved by the following release which is to occur two weeks after that, on Tuesday June 10.
Interaction with you through the "Satisfaction" button/link which is towards the upper-right of every video.market7 page helps guide these sorts of efforts and is highly appreciated. Please continue using that to alert us of anything you think we should consider. This certainly includes bugs and other problems, but also suggestions and even the occasional compliment is appreciated (when deserved (not the case right now with the annotative player)).
Please accept our apologies for these annotative player bugs and also our gratitude for your contributions as pilot users to our making video.market7 the best environment we can.
We'll be in touch soon!
Yours,
Seth Kenvin

Seth Kenvin replied on May 19, 2008 06:14 to the idea "J-K-L Keyboard Shortcuts" in Market7:
Thanks, we're keyboard shortcut fans and appreciate that being an affinity shared with many video production professionals to whom we cater. Several shortcuts are incorporated within video.market7, and yours is a good suggestion especially considering there being other examples of the same keys for the same features.
Seth Kenvin replied on May 15, 2008 05:32 to the idea "Separate Comments Page Should have Timecodes attached" in Market7:
I especially like this post by you Ryan because it turns out that both of your requests (showing times commented on when comments are exported & presenting them in timeline order) happen to be things addressed in a release we put up yesterday, 1 day after you wrote this. We love GetSatisfaction as a way to receive your advice, and we work diligently to promptly incorporate what we can, while also expanding on other features which we're sure you'll find useful. We often wish we could be even more rapidly responsive across the board on every request. Great this time to be lucky & achieve the <24hr turnaround!
