There are a lot of groups creating the iPhone apps for Windows Mobiles 5/6 and 6/1 vs the phone devices themselves. When my friends get new iPhone apps I check to see if they're available in WM6.0 for my HTC 8525 (kick ass phone! - sorry Tilt luvrz)... I'm just say'n the cliche thing for the most popular apps out there designed for mobile phones are hitting the iPhone market as well as the winmobile users too. These groups are catching on that "Oh - yeah that would be a good thing on both platforms now wouldn't it). Make one group pay for it or give it to both for free or shareware - just get the apps out there - and if you can't design it for both platforms - then only advertise on apple.com or microsoft.com (eq respect to both design groups). I considered the iPhone and the iTouch, etc. but I likes my 8525 (classic and new age at the same time!)

Keep Cool. JON beachboyde@aol.com

(I'm sure you researched this out - just as a developer, this is my input)
Just use the GPS Intermediate Driver introduce in Windows Mobile 5.0. AFAIK this is what google maps uses...
Is it possible for loopt to provide an API that we can use? If that was the case, we could develop something - just need the API to submit the coordinates to (along with username, credentials, etc). If friends locations and information was also published we could use that too.

There's no ETA on WinMo support at this time. WinMo development for location-based applications is challenging since most WinMo devices lack GPS, and location API support is difficult or unavailable on many devices. In addition, each device requires unique development efforts. We continually evaluate new devices and platforms, but please understand that some are more difficult to support than others (if they are supportable at all). Thanks for your patience and enthusiasm!

Just upgraded from a Treo 700wx to an 800w and really would like this. Brightkite is available for those interested, but maybe not as featuref-full as Loopt? It simply uses a web interface that's geared towards mobile users. I would think Loopt would be able to do something similar until/if they decide to put out a dedicated WM app...
