We have quite a few cafés that provide breakfast/brunch, lunch, and dinner. I can think of some in predominantly urban pedestrian areas.

Cultural differences mean that I don't understand what specific categories mean.

Food - American - Is this just hot dogs?
Food - Diner - Is this those roadside places I see in movies, or is this like McDonalds?
Food - Pan Pacific - Can you give an example of the food served at a restaurant specialising in this?

I've like to be able to categorise a good restaurant as something other than "other". It's not ethnic food, and nothing else seems to fit.

I would say that private or friend-only spots should never award a checkin with an item, just to keep things fair.
