NEW OFFICIAL RELEASE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=78...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEW FEATURES:
3 DIFFERENT WEATHER SOURCES (YAHOO, GOOGLE, UNISYS)
CHECKS INTERNET CONNECTION AUTOMATICALLY, TRAY ICON TURNS RED IF DISCONNECTED.
AREA CODE / TIME SETTING CAN'T CONTAIN LETTERS/SYMBOLS
SAMPLES FOR WEATHER
BETTER SIZING FOR WEATHER, AVOIDS CLIPPING
NO INSTALLER
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TODO:
MAKE INTO OFFICIAL WIDGET
CLOCK, CALENDAR, ETC
FIX BUGS(SEE BELOW)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Known issues:
if area code isn't a real area code, will display part of google search results rather than weather (no real way to fix this)
For some reason, If run from the desktop, It will always register internet as disconnected. I have absolutley no idea why. (running from a desktop shortcut, however, will not cause this)
A comment on the idea "Bring the cool stuff (back)!" in BumpTop:
The entire idea behind BumpTop is that form compliments function. While some ideas my be pointless, like crumpling icons, others are very unique, and manage to function effectively and look pretty at the same time. I think the company should look at both avenues, rather than just focusing on function. I mean, if they did what you say, all the icons would be black, or plain text, there'd be no background, and the context menu would be exactly the same. There's a careful balance to be achieved here, and I think they've done a great job. – ShadowfoxXXX, on May 03, 2009 17:53

My next update will include:
checks for valid area code
ability to switch from google to yahoo weather etc.
Future updates:
make it an "official" widget
input city and state instead of area code.
when disconnected from internet, leave most recent valid weather.
weather inside window option
Zip version without installer
Calendar, clock, etc
IF ANYONE HAS ANY GOOD IDEAS FOR THIS WIDGET PLEASE POST THEM HERE!

That is an awesome idea. I didnt even think of that. My next release will DEFINITELY have options to switch between google weather, yahoo weather, etc. Thanks so much for the idea man. – ShadowfoxXXX, on April 22, 2009 21:53

It seems like a ton of extra work for no extra functionality, but ill work on it. I can make it close as soon as bumptop does with 2 lines of code. – ShadowfoxXXX, on April 22, 2009 02:58

http://bumptop.pbwiki.com/External-Wi...
It is an actual widget.
It's called an external widget.
Support is built in to bumptop for these widgets. – ShadowfoxXXX, on April 22, 2009 02:49

I made this weather widget.
It's not super pretty, but it works (and it's free).

I'm sorry it didn't work for you. What do you mean itll be cluttered? even if we didnt use images it's have the same effect. I don't understand. and as for it not working, I'm sorry. Note the word "ghetto" in the title. This is just the beginning, Think of it as an aloha test. I'm not even close to being totally done. – ShadowfoxXXX, on April 20, 2009 14:36
