I went through this frustration a few months ago, and dealing with magellan's tech support became my own personal hell. It got to the point that it felt like fighting big tobacco, I just couldn't make any headway. I returned a broken unit, which only after 3 or 4 calls pointing out the tracking receipt, did they acknowledge they got. Then it was 2 - 3 months of one to two calls every week trying to find out where my replacement was. The short of it is the support agents lie, and then they lie, and then they continue to lie about how much they lie. I got these excuses so often that I suspect they each have a little spinner wheel at there desk with each one on it - we don't have a phone number for (fill in the blank) department, our email is down, our servers are down, our shipping is down, I've expedited your case, I've re-expedited your case, I am a manager, no we don't have a supervisor, no really I am a manager, and down the list. I even had a guy tell me the servers were down, to which I replied I'm going to hang up and call back in 5 minutes, will they still be down. He said yes, I did it, and lo and behold the second guy said there was no problem with the servers. I will say this, after the first month I began to enjoy my Magellan calls, they became a bit of a stress relieving ritual. Anyway, when I had basically given up hope I received a new unit in the mail. (20+ calls and at least 10 hours of talk time later). I didn't even open the replacement, on to ebay and out of my life it went.
Good luck

THIS COMPANY HAS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! (can you even call it customer service when there is NONE).
I ordered the wrong maps update (because the maps on my Maestro 3100 are pretty lacking) , canceled it 10mins after I ordered it. They gave me a confirmation number of the cancellation, then shipped it anyway! I refused shipment, then they put me through the ringer with stating I had to fax a copy of my cc statement, have a cancellation number, and a fax number that I used (good thing I own my own). I then spoke with 6 different people repeating the same info. Then they still tried to charge me for the shipping! I finally got them to agree to a refund today. Ahhh finally, a refund of the product that should never have shipped, lets see, a month and a half after I placed/canceled the order???
I am selling this Magellan GPS the minute I can and buying a TomTom. At least at Tom Tom they speak English and answer my questions without a half hour hold.
Dont EVER buy one of these.
