Sheena replied on September 03, 2008 15:21 to the discussion "Legality of Trading" in Intrade:

    Sheena
    Dear ColesLaw,

Your post raises a number of important points. We hope this additional transparency is helpful for all.

    As you may already know...

    1. Intrade is and has looked to have the issue you raise clarified, most recently by lodging a public comment on the Federal Register on foot of requests for comments from the US Commodities Futures Trade Commission. You may see our public comment here http://www.cftc.gov/stellent/groups/p...

    2. We have members from over 160 countries globally. We, like many other companies, do not offer legal advice on whether using our service from any jurisdiction is in compliance with local laws. We place an onus of responsibility on the user as detailed in our FAQ’s and terms and conditions of membership. Further, if we were to offer legal or indeed tax advice on a matter and laws of precedents were to change we would be in a potentially difficult situation.

    3. We advice all who are uncertain about such matter to contact their own legal advisors, just as investment firms do when you consider investing in any product.

Thank you again for raising this point. We would love to be able to guarantee legal, tax and other treatments in all jurisdictions, especially places like the USA from where we have many members but at this time that is unfortunately not possible.

    Sincerely,

    Sheena

We are now Pre-Clearing Cashiers Checks up to $500
In an ongoing effort to improve our member-funding options we are now pre-clearing cashiers checks up to the value of $500.00. Any cashiers checks that are received up to this value will be immediately credited to your account. The standard ten-business day clearance period will not be enforced.

Any larger cashiers checks will have $500.00 cleared to your account immediately, with the remaining amount added after the check has been fully cleared by our bank.

If your cashiers check is for $500.00 or more than you may also use our FedEx account free of charge. Please email help@intrade.com for our FedEx account number.

Please note that all personal checks and money orders will still be subject to the standard ten-business day clearance period enforced by our bank.

If you have any questions regarding this please do not hesitate to contact us at help@intrade.com.

    Hello S K,

Thank you for your enquiry. We have no control over how Google displays details of our Exchange for a web search. Google has their own method of indexing a page and ranking it accordingly. It is not a case of us writing our own entry for Google to display. I will speak to our Technology team to see if there is anything we can do, but I strongly suggest that we do not have any influence here.

    Regards,

Sheena replied on August 05, 2008 20:33 to the question "what is deposit limit before bank paperwork?" in Intrade:

    Sheena
    Dear Keith,

Thank you for your enquiry. You will need to supply us with verification of your credit card information and your identity if:

    • You wish to deposit more than $250.00 using your credit card over a thirty-day period.
    • You wish to withdraw funds from your account and you have previously used a credit card to fund the account

We recommend you do this early to ensure there are no delays when requesting withdrawals from your account.

To verify your credit card and identity we require the following:

    • A copy of photo ID (such as drivers license or passport)
    • A copy of the front and back of your credit card
    • Proof of address if not shown on your ID (such as a utility bill, official letter or bank statement in your name)

This information can be scanned or photographed and emailed to help@intrade.com, or faxed to 1-866-303-1924 (or +353-1-6200-396 if outside the US). If you are faxing the information please ensure you make the fax as light as possible so we can read all details.

We appreciate that this information is sensitive and you may black out anything not needed for verification. We need to see the first six digits of your card number, the expiry date, and the name and signature. We do not need to see the last ten numbers on your card or the three-digit CCV code on the back. This information never shared with anyone else and is stored in a secure location.

This information is requested to ensure that all credit card transactions have been made by the authorised holder of the credit card and is an important element of our anti-fraud procedures.

Please note that this information is for our own verification purposes only and does not guarantee your bank will allow you use your credit card to deposit funds to your account.

If you have any further enquiries or comments please do not hesitate to post them here.

    Sheena
Thank you for your suggestion. We do indeed have a "suggest a contract" feature that you can access via the "markets" tab on the header of the site or email suggestions into markets@intrade.com

When you suggest a new prediction for Intrade to list, your suggestion gets automatically sent to a number of our team including the manager responsible for all markets on Intrade.

Where possible we list all markets suggested but sometimes we don't for various reasons such as:

    1. We have a similar market listed already.
    2. We believe it may be difficult to get people to trade or "market make" the
    suggestion.
    3. It may be difficult to define or definitively expire the market.

Thank you again for your suggestion. If you have any additional comments or suggestions please feel free to post in this forum.

    Kind Regards,
