Carl AKA Shishio started following the idea "Improve "edit/vote category" to make Veoh a better organized place." in Veoh.
Carl AKA Shishio replied on November 29, 2009 07:38 to the idea "Allow us to re-arrange our Favorites, Created Groups and Joined Groups on our pages" in Veoh:
@Geolga: I read here someone saw a sneak update where something like this idea was in place in groups. So maybe this idea is being implemented. I don't speak for Veoh though, its just a rumor basically. But there really are those sneak updates on the site once in a while, its real odd when it happens. Like they added the follower list once for like a few hours then it went away till it was later permanently implemented.
Anyhow, I think our uploaded videos should be added to this, so we can put our favorite or preferred videos we upload on the front of our page. If people want the recent ones, they can go to "view all".
Carl AKA Shishio replied on November 29, 2009 07:31 to the question "group loads for the player" in Veoh:
They added that new Playlist which no one I know uses and everyone I talked to about it either doesn't like it or doesn't understand it. Why can't they bring back this old option (among many others) that so many people liked FIRST, then add new stuff. It hurts the overall experience and frustrates old users.

Yeah Veoh TV was great if this is an upgrade why hasn't this been brought back, its been like a year. These kinds of things made Veoh competitive with Youtube and other sites. – Carl AKA Shishio, on November 29, 2009 07:12

I've had the third problem a lot. Its really annoying.
Sometimes the page gets slowed down really bad too by the flash player when its starting up after a new page or video is started. I don't see how, its not like the old Stage6 hi-end player, or the HD Youtube player. It doesn't do that. Just Veoh. And I think Veoh is lower quality.
Also the new Veoh Beta Player on my Taskbar seems to take up more memory usage when I look at it in Task Manager. I don't know for sure, I just got the impression that it was more than I remember. Seriously, why all these changes to things that were fine once when so many other things need attention...-

Separate our inbox messages into categoriesThe last thing Veoh would need is more confusing divisions, but this might be good, what if you separated the Veoh mail (inbox) into categories, like:
1. Personal messages from other users
2. Video Invites
3. Group invites
4. VeohStaff notifications (IE copyright warnings, group creation successful)
I made a doctored pic really quick in Fireworks (Macromedia's Photoshop) with my own web design icons to show what I was thinking, it'd be fun to have it in the Veoh bar.
This would help a lot since all my PMs are all jumbled and I have a hard time finding different kinds of mail esp since its all the same on that blinding white background :/

My idea was never implemented though marked asPlease review this topic and how it was handled.
http://getsatisfaction.com/veoh/topics/make_receiving_pms_about_profile_comments_optional
I suggested it be made optional whether or not we receive PMs whenever we get a comment, and I was told "the option is up, go to this page" then my idea was mark implemented.
However, there appears to be a misunderstanding. There is no option to turn off getting PMs for profile page comments on the page I was directed to, or anywhere I think. There is such an option for turning off emails, but I was not referring to that, and even differentiated from them in the original suggestion. I was referring to PMs. To me, PMs are personal messages contained on sites separate from "real" email like Yahoo or Gmail. I thought that was the general understanding on the whole internet.

Too much sub-porn in the searchesTry searching "videos" in animals or entertainment and you're bombarded with pictures of rhinoceros penises and Indian softcore porno. Or search "news videos" and you get a picture of a someone's butt. Worst off, this is how it is by default since it sorts by "popularity".
No seriously, look if you haven't seen this problem:
http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/cat...
http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/animals
I'm no prude, and I'm not trying to be funny, but man I am so sick of this. I can understand if I searched "stripper" or "hentai" and got some sexy thumbnails, but these are the default options from the Veoh bar! Because of this, I don't dare browse Veoh in public unless its a group I know. What if some kid wants to look at animal videos? He or she is gonna be in for a heck of a surprise.
Thats just the beginning, here's where it gets real bad. If I click on a favorite of someone's and its in such a category, this stuff pops up on the side. Anyone who looks at my screen would think I was searching or into some wild stuff unintentionally. Put yourself in the user's spot.
Oh wait, I can just turn on my Family Filter, and I won't see this garbage, right? Kind of like in the example screenshot below. Oh wait, I do have it on and still get this crap -_-
http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/44...
I see two possible fixes:
A: Don't make "popularity" the default category when browsing, since this stuff is apparently very popular. The default could be "featured" instead.
B: Family filter needs to filter out words like "bestiality" and "nude".
Another more complex solution would be include Youtube videos instead, since their most popular news videos are election results or Obama speeches probably.

"Relevance" catergorization is seriously broken and needs workEvery time I look at all videos from a user, relevance is the default "category sort". However this is a completely useless option in my opinion, and I always have to change it to another one of the sorting options. Why do I think its useless? I've never seen or searched for "Club Fair", circled in red, and it doesn't look like something I'd watch, in addition why does it start on #9 if its relevant, it should start on ep 1. This kind of thing happens EVERY TIME I look at all videos from someone.
I don't know how you decide on "relevant" but it should be fixed. Maybe instead of random episodes of shows we don't watch it could prioritize episode one of shows we don't watch since that is what people would start on, right? Or, maybe relevance shouldn't be the default category. I don't see how many people would use this over recent or popularity. Just my opinion but its an annoyance.-

Shishio asked a question in Veoh on November 23, 2009 07:55:
Are there supposed to be talking ads in groups?I had a group open in another tab. At one point, there was a really loud talking ad on the group page (Musonex, that mucus prescription), then after I muted it more talking ads came up (dish-washing soap and a car commercial, I think) and did not stay muted. Later on, a music video ad for Youtube or something started playing. I paused it, since the mute function didn't work on it, and then it stayed paused for a bit and eventually it went to quiet ads again.
This is really annoying because its loud and intrudes on you. It'd be nice if those ads would stay muted, or by default, just set to a lower volume. I don't want my group members annoyed by ads either.
btw: I'm not talking about video ads in the player! Its the one on group pages.

Good job and thanks for the speedy reply! I made an topic in ideas about the search functions, I hope staff can review and maybe give some of feedback about what you do have planned already and might in the future. – Shishio, on November 17, 2009 05:42
Shishio asked a question in Veoh on November 17, 2009 05:35:
Is Veoh getting a higher quality player? It'd be nice to have a high definition player on this site like other sites have been getting, I was thinking the staff was already on this though but might as well ask
Shishio shared an idea in Veoh on November 17, 2009 05:33:
Expand and enhance searches on other sitesA year ago I used to use Veoh for 90% of my videos, but now I use Youtube probably half the time and Veoh much less. I know I'm not the only one according to the feedback I heard from other users over the year!
So, I think a cool way Veoh could gets it hits and functionality up is to expand searching to other sites like CrunchyRoll and more Hulu. However, its kind of impractical if you don't have a better player, since other sites offer Hi-def. Also you could open up downloading from other sites too if its possible, especially if its in the MP4 format- for our handheld devices! You can't download from Youtube without a special add-on and the download option disappears when you go to a Veoh-Youtube video. That'd be really good, there'd be almost no reason to go to another site then since I could search easy on Veoh which has a better user interface then them.
A comment on the idea "Stop deleting accounts over copyright infringement..." in Veoh:
We are, however, looking into streamlining the counter-notice policy so that uploaders have an easier and more direct route to dispute claims of infringement.
What will this do exactly? Do you have an estimated time when this could go into effect- months, next year...? – Shishio, on November 17, 2009 05:12
A comment on the idea "See Unread Message # on our Veoh Bar again" in Veoh:
If you're on it, why hasn't the thread changed its status to "in progress"? Is there a difference? Also I've noticed some changes, but still, the search is pretty bad. It seems to go up and down in functionality. Also the "relevant/popular" categories are completely useless. Especially the relevant one when looking at someone's videos, I always change to "recent". – Shishio, on November 16, 2009 17:57
