What are the effects of turning on vacation mode?

Just what are the effects of turning on vacation mode? I gather the following:

• Immediate one-point karma penalty


• Karma does not go up or down

Are there any other effects? For example, while I'm in vacation mode, can I still log in without cancelling the "vacation"? Can I plurk? Reply to other people's plurks? Use the emoticons my karma level allows?

Messages missing from timeline

Some messages from people I'm following are not showing up in my timeline. For example, my friend Juverna posted a tweet about four hours ago (the text is "@nullalux: he certainly is!"); I can see it at Juverna's Twitter page (http://twitter.com/juverna), but not in my own timeline.

I do have my timeline set up to show replies to other people, and I can see other @ replies in my timeline--but that one is missing. Other tweets have been missing lately, too.

Sure, I get that. They said they'd cleared my cache on the Twitter servers (and Juverna's, too). But I figured it'd be safest to clear my browser cache too, just so I can be sure I'm getting the freshest of the freshest.

Alas, the freshest of the freshest is still kind of stale...

Alas, it doesn't seem to have fixed things for me! I just tried clearing my browser cache, then opening twitter.com. I still can't see Juverna's most recent update ( http://twitter.com/juverna/statuses/6... ).

I've still got the problem too. My handle is "shoutingboy"; when I look at my timeline, I can't see my friend juverna's most recent update (this one: http://twitter.com/juverna/statuses/6... ), though I can see it on her page.

I preferred it when twitter was down a lot--then, at least I knew whether I was getting the messages! Now, I have no idea what I'm seeing and what I ain't. Can we go back to the old way? ;-)
