    hey ashugles . .
i jus did a fresh install of ubuntu 8.04 then install song bird and it still didnt pick up my plugins again and this was ver 0.7
    wat i had to was:
my songbird plugins is located at: /usr/share/Songbird/plugins for both java and flash. i had to copy flash from : /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so and paste it in/usr/share/Songbird/plugins to get flash to work
then i had to run a java command like this sudo ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.06/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so/usr/share/Songbird/plugins to install java (i got this command from the FLOCK site and like how flock an songbird is based off MOZILLA i thought it wud work and it did)
thx for your help . . i havent had any luck installing my multimedia plugins like totem,geck-mplayer,for embedded videos but thts kool .. i can live without those but i cant live without flash and java on the web . .
    thnx again

    hey ashughes kool tuturial :P
i followed ur instructions an got the java bin file, ran the commands in the terminal accept the licence agreement an did the rest of the tutorial but in the end wen i went to about:plugins, theres still No Java there in Songbird . .
i dont kno wats wrong cuz i did everthing u say without any errors in the terminal . . i'm not giving up on songbird though . .
i hav space constraints on my present Drive (40 Gb) so i'm gonna do a upgrade to a bigger drive (320 Gb) an a clean install soon . . i'll let u kno wat happen after a clean install of ubuntu on a bigger Drive + Songbird . .
i saved ur tutorial and the java file so wen i reinstall my programs i will attempt to add java to songbird again ..
but in the mean time i'm gonna continue enjoy the lovely songs and beautiful interface of Songbird ;)

How to install flash&java on Songbird Ubuntu
Hey ya'll jus installed songbird 0.61 from a .debs file i downloaded from getdebs.org. i'm totally new to songbird but i'm loving it cuz its a COOL MEDIA PLAYER
the problem i'm having is songbird does not pickup flash, java or any of my mplayers plugins (i checked about plugins and its blank) so i cant watch any videos on youtube even though flash is already installed on my ubuntu 8.04 desktop. i installed all the gstreamer dependencies so i am able to play my Mp3 music files but i cant play flash vids or java in my songbird web browser.
how do i get songbird to recognize that i hav flash an java installed ?? or

i need simple walk through steps cuz i'm also pretty new to Ubuntu but i kinda kno ma way aroun :P

any help or links to help is welcome
    thanks in advance
