Latest upgrade to the touch (2.0.1?) and now I'm getting this problem a lot. Used to happen occasionally, now lots of podcasts regain their blue dot - also some old podcasts listened-to seem to have ticks in their boxes in Library. Hmmmm. Something aint quite right ...

I've been having this problem for many months now. I'm not sure what triggers this problem, but I don't think it was a recent firmware update or iTunes update.
