Sketh replied on August 11, 2009 20:04 to the question "Alpha 2c IMG download?" in Jolicloud:
The problem is that I can't get the installation to finish, I've tried 5 seperate USB Drives, 3 SD cards, etc. I've also gotten the image to run on my Dell XPS 1330, and still not function on my Mini.
What happens is it will load up the installer, and when I select "Install Jolicloud" it goes through the loading splash screen, but near the end of the blue bar filling it goes into a bunch of script, ending at "ubuntu@ubuntu" waiting for an input.
I've changed bios back to default, and every trick in the book. I'm pretty computer savvy, but this just has me stumped, I was hoping the new Alpha2c may fix my strange/rare problem, but as I can't install 2b to upgrade, I need a fresh 2c image to install.
Thanks for responding, by the way.

Alpha 2c IMG download? Will the download page and mirrors ever be updated with the new "Alpha 2c" image? 2b will not install on my HP Mini, no matter what I do, so I would like to try my luck with the new release.
Sketh asked a question in Jolicloud on July 30, 2009 18:51:
HP Mini 1000 Will not install, "Ubuntu@Ubuntu:~$"When I try to install the Alpha2b version of Jolicloud it will not boot into the installer on HP Mini 1000. I've tried multiple USB Sticks, and it still gets stuck at a command prompt screen, after seeming like it will boot into the installer.
Here's what happens:
The select language pops up, and then I select "Install Jolicloud", after that it goes through the loading bar, and seems to be working fine. When the bar completes a bunch of script appears and ends at a screen that says: "ubuntu@ubuntu:~$" with a prompt.
The flashdrive boots into the installer and test environment fine on my Dell XPS 1330, so I don't think it's a bad image, maybe it has to do with my bios on the mini?
Thoughts?

There is already a similar post on this, but I'll reiterate my thoughts here:
Movies have previews even though you (typically) pay to watch them, books have similar pages dedicated to other books either by the same author or by the same publisher.
Of course ngmoco was putting ads in their games for an upcoming game that they wanted to be very successful. And I doubt they'd stop.
The ads aren't "intrusive" in my opinion, they're just "there."
I see where you're coming from, though, but give the developers some slack, they want to be successful, and getting their upcoming apps out in the open any way possible just makes sense.
Sketh replied on December 30, 2008 03:30 to the question "Rolando: Spikey control is bad!" in ngmoco:
As someone stated above, Spikey travels "up and down." But, once you get spikey on a surface, he will travel in the direction he originally started, normally.
For example. You make Spikey jump onto something above you, and you tilt your iPhone or iPod touch to the left, he travels right. Even if the surface you're on dips down (As seen as the start of "Catapult Chasm") Spikey will continue in the same direction.
After I re-read that, it sounds kind of confusing... But I assure you, Spikey control is easy to master.

Sketh replied on December 20, 2008 05:41 to the question "Are Roland ads in all ngmoco:) games really necessary?" in ngmoco:
Just think of it as good PR.
Think of all the DVDs you own that have trailers for other movies or shows on them. Commercials even.
There are a LARGE amount of people out there who purchase applications and rarely read up on upcoming games.
I'm sure the developers were just trying to get the word out about their upcoming release, and not trying to detract from the aesthetics of the game, or favoring hyping Rolando over bug fixes.
Sketh replied on December 20, 2008 05:32 to the problem "Rolando: typo: siege is spelt seige in 'tell a friend' email" in ngmoco:
I know this isn't a solution, and I know this may be borderline heckling (I'll precursor this by saying I noticed the typo as well) but the word "spelt" is a typo in itself, and while often used in speech, it isn't technically the correct way of saying something is "spelled" incorrectly... just saying.
And now for something constructive:
Since it just opens the mail app, anyone who wants to be super proper could just as well correct the spelling before sending the email.
Good catch, though.-

Sketh shared an idea in ngmoco on December 20, 2008 05:18:
Custom Rolando CharactersI'm not sure what Simon or ngmoco has in store for Rolando, but I'm just about 143% sure that giving the player the ability to create their own Rolando character to use in the game would be amazing.
I've already become completely attached to the Rolando (Rolandites?) and am devastated every time I lose one when playing.
It could be simple, sort of like the Mii feature on the Nintendo Wii. Different hair-do's, eyes, mouths, colors, etc. Nothing that game changing, just the satisfaction of having your own creation navigate through the game... Just a thought.
