Skipper reported a problem in Hubdub on March 05, 2008 22:08:
Cambridge, NU, Canada and Freeport, Bahamas Temperature Question settled incorrectly!I believe there has been a mis-settlement of this question:
http://www.hubdub.com/e/Market/Will_t...
according to Weather Underground (the only site I found that had complete histories for Tuesday, and both Cambridge Bay, NU, Canada and Freeport, Bahamas
Cambridge bay low for Tuesday: -41 °F
Freeport high for Tuesday: 80 °F
Difference = 121°F
However the question was settled as 'yes' the difference was LESS than 110°F
I believe this should be overturned and it settled as 'no' the difference was not less, but MORE than 110°F

Skipper shared an idea in Hubdub on March 02, 2008 20:36:
Invite HubDubbers to a question by Username, rather than just email.I would like to suggest question creators being able to invite HubDubbers to their question by username, not just email. You could only be able to invite those on your 'friends' list. I would love to invite InfernalMachine, Truthwrangler, Rohan, et al (they are on my friends) but do not know their email.
Best regards (and great site :D),
Skipper

I stayed up to midnight (not that late, I know, but on a SCHOOL!!! night XD) waiting to see if the temperature in DC would drop below 0C, it didn't and I made a killing. I do worry when the power goes out!
Lastly, anaverageamerican is my dad, and the dinner conversation is all hubdub, my mom and brother are completely confused!

About self-referential questions:
http://getsatisfaction.com/hubdub/top...
according to this link^ some self-referential questions are allowed: e.g. "Will the 'no' percentage be higher than the 'yes' percentage at suspend date?" it cannot be gamed, and it can be settled.

Self-referential questions, why aren't they allowed?http://www.hubdub.com/public/goodques...
22.3.5 Hubdub Category
* Self-referential questions like “Will this question get on the homepage?” or “Will this question get H$100,000 in predictions?” are not allowed and will be voided
Why aren't these questions allowed?
I made one, and it could be settled... so why aren't they aren't they allowed?
Skipper replied on February 21, 2008 16:38 to the problem "Seeking repeal for the 50% penalty." in Hubdub:
I have to agree with Nigel, I feel this is closed, but sd seems to be the person who doesn't use logic very often. If you create a question with largely incorrect odds, then (even _after_ 12 hours!!!) bet on it, it can and probably will be voided.
Secondly, Nigel, I think he should be banned, he is obviously ignorant and displays no use of logic.
