It affected the stability of the rest of the service. In fact, they abandoned IM updates entirely for the time being; the only devices supported are mobile phones (SMS/text message).

I miss tracking and IM updates as much as you do...

This was finally resolved. Twitter doesn't do tracking via SMS any more now (which was a useful feature while we had it), so this should be considered fixed

Unwanted/unsolicited track: Indiana Jones
I suddenly started getting an unsolicited track for "Indiana Jones". Needless to say, this makes the SMS updates feature almost useless. It does not show up in my listed tracks when I do a "stats".
