Hey ashughes, I've had a bit more of a play around and can re-create this reliably with certain tracks. If it helps the developer I can send them an mp3 that displays album art and one that doesn't.
The fact that it seems to be the same files over and over again would suggest it is to do with the way I've tagged them. However, these same files displayed art correctly in the recent release candidates and in Amarok etc.
Thanks for your help so far :)

Hmm, this is getting a bit random... So I re-installed Songbird by downloading a fresh copy and deleting the .songbird2 folder again. The first run wizard ran, it scanned for media etc, all good.
I did a random spot check by playing about 100 tracks randomly but only about half of them displayed the album art.
My collection is meticulously tagged using Tag & Rename (a windows app) and everything has artwork embedded. I'm going to dig around a bit more to see if I can find some sort of pattern but there does seem to be something fishy going on.
Anyone else getting this or is it something to do with my setup?

Are you getting the same issue I describe on my topic at http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/t... ?

Album art not displaying in 0.7.0 BetaI am using the new 0.7.0 beta on Ubuntu 8.04 32bit and the new built in album art pane is not displaying album art from the id3 tags. I have tried playing numerous files which have album art embedded in the id3 tags but I just get the standard CD image for when there is no artwork.
When I installed Songbird I deleted the .songbird2 folder from my home directory and only installed the recommended add-ons from the first run wizard.
This used to work fine in the release candidates.
Am I missing something?-

A possible way to speed up the library search responsiveness?Just trying 0.7.0rc2 and notice that the library search is much better but it does seem to cause the app to freeze up every now and then.
Freezes seem to occur when searching for three or less characters. For example, if I quickly type in "Bob Marley" then the results come back fast. If I just enter "Bob" then I get 100% CPU usage and Songbird freezes for anything up to a minute.
Could the search only take place for 4 or more characters or would that limit people too much?
Also, I have noticed that the library search also searches the comments field in the ID3 tags - does this slow things down somewhat? Would it not make more sense just to search on Title, Artist, Album, Genre, Year and File Name?
Just some ideas... loving RC2 :)

Songbird really came together on the last nighly IMHOIs it just me or has songbird really come together on the latest nightly build? I am using the 2008080601 build for linux and there are a number of things that I've noticed which make a HUGE difference.
Searching seems to be a lot faster when in the library. I still get the odd 100% CPU usage and lockup for a few seconds but most of the time the results are returned instantly! Nice!
The album art pain is now part of the native songbird install it would seem. I installed the latest nightly of the album art manager addon and did a scan. It read ALL the album artwork from my ID3 (meta data) tags for my 14,000 and something tracks. Hoorah!
Double clicking on the album art pain when a track is playing opens the original sized cover in a new window - great!
I open a browser tab and start an internet radio stream from nuskoolbreaks.co.uk - no waiting for buffering or lockups, the stream just starts, fast!
I have done all the above a number of times and this build seems solid. It's even using less memory than Firefox3 for the first time ever. Sweet!
Developers, you must have done a hell of a lot of work recently... this awesome app is really coming together. Well done!
