You have a helpful message that gets sent to people suggesting how to convert existing accounts. You give examples which include the name of the service in the address.
You might mention in that message that Yahoo is an exception to this rule.
Or you might simply make a link saying: if you have trouble look for help here. and that help page should include information on how Yahoo does not allow yahoo in the name of the address.
I am hoping that having this post around in the support knowledge base will help if people look for this. But, they have to first encounter the problem before they are going to search.
So either mentioning that yahoo is problematic, or that some sites might be problematic with a link would be helpful.

Yahoo does not allow email addresses with "yahoo" in them.PLEASE post this information where people can find it. I lost about 8 hours trying to figure out what was wrong. For the yahoo groups I participate in, I wanted to use an OIB address. So I did the normal thing and composed an address like:
yahoo_groups@myname.otherinbox.com
I then tried to add this as an address in my profile. Then I get this error:
"You are trying to add an email address that has been blocked by the email address owner. Please enter a different email address."
This is an inaccurate and completely misleading error message. At other times you get an error message saying simply that the address is invalid. I thought that OIB was being banned by Yahoo. The truth is that Yahoo does not allow this message BECAUSE it has "yahoo" in the address. Every thing will work if you avoid including yahoo in the name of the box. For example, I changed it to:
hooya_groups@myname.otherinbox.com
And everything worked fine. It took me hours of searching to find this. There is nowhere that I can find that yahoo states that email addresses with yahoo in the name are rejected. I have tried a number of email addresses, but (as is the pattern suggested by OIB) I had always put yahoo in the name somewhere, and Yahoo always rejected it. I can not figure why Yahoo does this strange thing.
Very frustrating. Please make this information available to others who may try the same thing.

Sorry, thought that link was automatic:
http://www.slideshare.net/kswenson/20...
Note: I had this problem on my laptop computer (Windows XP, FireFox browser) but not on my office desktop (Windows Vista, Firefox browser) nor on my home desktop (Windows XP, Firefox browser). I don't know of any other idiomatic problems with the laptop computer -- I use it for everything else without reservation -- but this particular problem with the slidecast happens consistently.
Sorry, but there is probably some detail of the configuration of that machine that is causing this, and I have no idea what it is, nor any way to identify it. Since it happened only with one machine, we can probably ignore this problem. I would consider this problem closed.
I hope however that this information help you to identify and address the problem in the long run. If it would help you for me to answer specific questions about the laptop configuration I would be happy to.

sleepless asked a question in SlideShare on July 02, 2009 21:39:
Audio position off by factor of 2I have synchronized audio with the slides, and if I play it through normally it works fine. But if I hit the advance to the next slide (or back to the last) the audio is positioned incorrectly. It appears to be mis-calculating the position to jump to by a factor of 2. If I advance to the middle of the deck, I will hear the end of the audio, and after the middle of the deck there is no audio at all. The "play" indicator ends up positioned half way down the bar, right in the middle, and I can hear the end of the talk at that point, and it does not play any further. Unfortunately, we are only half way through the slides at this point.
Any idea what is wrong? MP3 is recorded at 64KHz in mono.
