Yes! I'm not reading enough because, I guess being the nature of such a popular site, the volume of work is overwhelming.

I've written a lot of CRAP! And I'd love to go through and purge some of my least proud scribings. So, I agree.

How about someone completes a work? I got it! People vs. Rumplestilskin by the illustrious Pirate Queen! But I do like this idea.

Red Rose, I like the way you think...and you make a great orange pekoe too. Personally, and I know it's been mentioned before, and Nick, well, does a pretty full plate , but if we could rank our own stories on our profile, now, that would be something!

whoops, just asked for this in another session ---- what if there was an option within profile mgmt. that allowed for specific versus aggregate posting info? I'd actually be interested in seeing which ones (one? lol) are being read.

I agree - this has always been a sore point. I'd like to wonder, is it possible, at least to identify within "notifications" which story was rated? Rather than "One of your posts was rated a 3", could the system specify?

I agree! 9 times out of 10, I'll want to comment on a branch so branch default makes sense to me.

(rolls eyes in feigned disgust) No, Nick! NO! Do you really think I haven't noticed the top rated? I mean, I'm only on here when I'm not sleeping or having a movement! And sometimes, I can do all three at once.

    (wink)

What I'm getting at is a little different. More of an authours favourites, like, if you like my stuff, here is what I'd like you to read. Tasha, for example might put up "Waking with Henry", as her #1, let's say because I think that's one of her personal favourites. Although that maybe in her top rated, I think you may see what I'm getting at. Um. OK. One of my top rated is "If I only had my marbles", or something like that. Although I do like that poem a lot, it got there because it gained some readership due do that story being a hot one for a while. There are some stories, though, given my near 100 posts that I'd personally like to spotlight on my profile. So, in a nutshell, a list of *my* personal top rated. That is, "if you like my style, I think you'd like.....and out of all my stories, the ones *I* think you'd most enjoy are.... the ones I'm excited for feedback on,", you know what I mean?

    Make more sense?

How about an authour's top 10?
    Dear suggestion box,

Usually when I read something that I like, I look at the authour's profile with an interest in reading further. Having taken on the exercise of writing every day, even if I'm not all that inspired, as exercixe so to speak, I know that my most recent posting is not always my best work. In fact, there are some stories I'd really like people to read more than others. Is there a way to accomodate an "authour's top 10" or something on the profile page?

Meh. it's a collaborative writer's group, isn't it? If I added to someone's chapter, and totally didn't pick up what they'd put down, I'd be embarassed *not* to hear about it. Both times I've done this already (still learning to read authour guidance first, though I swear Tasha did a little fancy fix up after the fact, different story) Anyhow, I think in any collaborative writing effort , criticism (or "exploring opportunities for improvement") is one big cornerstone of communication. I'd hope that the group's culture would set the tone.

I don't think that a harsh response to well thought criticism is a product of the criticism, but rather the individual's inability to understand its importance. Again, collaborative writing site. One which would lose a lot of its strength if all we could say was "Great stuff!" ,, "Good Effort!" and "Cute!"

While I've had my share of indignation regarding my work, it's usually reflected in a scenario where I get low rating, but no justification in the form of a critique. I think we (we? lol) should cater to the spirit of collaborative writing.

    Protagablog
Like you don't have enough on you rplate...but hey, here's an idea! This site's really become a community - now, keep in mind, I have no idea anything about space requirements or bandwith usage, but I do think this might help with traffic.

Reading Donmari's eloquent post about the scary day she had, I thought it'd be great to talk about why it is I so badly want to go buy beer. Now, I could put that in non fiction and call it my Day, and so could everyone else, and we'd end up with a bunch of BLOGS.

Rather than posting my dumb poems on my personal blog, I'd rather just write that blog here on my profile page. I realize the scope of this site is creative writing, and as much as I'd like to continue spewing creative crap, sometimes, like today, I just want to write about my day. (and submit unsolicited idea after idea)

I spend more time here than on Facebook or Spaces, which both now annoy me, so I'd rather (here's the gem) tell my friends they can find my blog on Protagonize (traffic, kaching, kaching). This also gives my friends access to my stories and those with which I've favourited.

They might even love the site so much (and it's a lovable site) they may just register. Or come back to read stories AND blogs from some of the best writers east/west of the Mississipi.

I have to work tomorrow. But work today made me want beer,

    Ratings
    Dear Sir,

I have an idea I would like to share. About the maturity rating. I see Dy's point. he's proud of what he writes - after all, we're all here because we want as many people as possible to read our stuff.

Poll for an age. If someone is 18, have mature rating turned on. Of course, let them know that on the registration page. they have the option to turn it off if they find anything too unsettling. I mean, I'm sure Dean Koontz and Stephen King have used the "B" word now and then. Perhaps, have one more category, relegated to tabbo perhaps which details with grotesquly violent or shocking substance that works like mature content now. That category wouldbe available to users over 18 as well, but only if they looked for it. But by and large, the majority of users over the age of 18 are accustomed to reading a few foul words. It's not my site, but I joined it because it's a literary one, and it seems to me as a wannabe author that the less things are censured the better..

On a further note (and no offense), I'm sure if someone wanted to find tittilating content, the internet probably has a few better options.
