- Live Writer version
- Zemanta version (go to "add/remove programs" in control panel , find "Zemanta for Live Writer", select and click on "support information"
- Do you have a proxy or anything special with your Internet connection?

The current version of WLW will unfortunately not tell you much. As much as we try to have the versions on different platforms synchronised Firefox and WLW platforms have so little in common releases are required at different times. And the versions of those two plugins don't always match.

As Jure said. Each time we send out a new release, our plugin will notify you and send you to the download page if you require so.

This error occurs when our plugin can not retrieve a certain file from our server. Could you open your Internet Explorer and see if you see this file:

(some text in XML should appear)

Also it would be helpful if I would know the version of your operating system and version of your Live Writer.

Do you have the latest version of Live Writer?

Are you behind a proxy? If so:
Try to apply the same proxy setting from the Live Writer in Internet Explorer. So Zemanta plugin will be able to read proxy settings.

If there is a red cross instead of an orange plus in means your Zemanta extension is disabled. Click on the red cross and click "Toggle". This will enable your extension.

Yes, thank you for the report. That is a known problem.
The easyest solution for you would be to update Live Writer to the latest build ( 14 ). There you should experience no problems with Zemanta.

You can download it from here: http://download.live.com/writer
Or use Live Writer update option. I believe it is located in the "Help" menu.

Do you have that option?

After a little research it seems that "Zemanta plugin helper" has nothing to do with it.

It seems as something conflicts with our plugin making HTTP requests to our services. I believe you both have the latest Zemanta Internet Explorer plugin installed?

Do you use any antivirus, firewall or spy ware software? It is known that those sometimes examine Internet Explorer plugins. If you do, could you try turning those off temporarily and try our plugin again?

Could we look into one more thing?

Open your Internet Explorer. In menu bar click:
- "Tools" -> "Internet options"
- open "Programs" tab
- click on "Manage Add-ons" button

A list pops up. Do you see "Zemanta Plugin" and "Zemanta Plugin Helper" on that list?
Is the "Status" of both entries "Enabled"?

There was a period where we needed to release 2 updates with very little time in between. Could you try downloading again from our official download site?:

To be shore you got the right file (weird but sometimes some strange caching occurs on the web):
- right click on ZemantaWLWSetup.msi
- click "properties"
- select "Digital signatures" tab
- And the timestamp of the file should be: " 24. October 2008 12:47:04"

Removing plugin from control panel didn't help. That's strange. You can also manually remove our plugin if you go to:
C:\Program Files\Windows Live Writer\Plugins
and delete LivePlugin.dll file.

Thank you for this information. It is false and misleading. I will report this and it will be corrected ASAP.

So how is your icon behaving? On supported blog platforms it should turn orange thus indicating Zemanta is working.
