There's now also an installation guide for production use on Ubuntu: http://code.google.com/p/calagator/wi... – Audrey Eschright, on May 13, 2009 17:41

Hi Glenn,
We have a page on the project wiki that covers the various dependencies needed to run Calagator: http://code.google.com/p/calagator/wi...
Let me know if you've looked through that and you're still having trouble.
Re: splitting off chunks people can work on--are you looking to contribute code, design, documentation, calendar gardening...? If you tell me more about your skills and interests, I can try to recommend things to poke at.
For Meetup.com, it looks like they provide iCalendar links for events, so Calagator can import them currently.

You're thinking of something like a page that shows existing tags, and lets the user click on them to see related events? We have some tag-related search enhancements in progress, but this sounds a little different.
Would you be willing to mark up a screen shot to give us a better idea of what you're looking for?

Dawn's comment is a great reminder that Calagator doesn't care who adds an event--you don't have to be the organizer, or even planning to attend. All Calagator users are encouraged to add any Portland technology events they'd like. The more people help keep an eye on this, the better Calagator can serve as a central resource for collecting and distributing event information.

Open Editing Means We Can All Help OutThank you to the kind people who keep adding the events I schedule to Calagator when I forget to do it. :) I <3 the pdx tech community.

Audrey Eschright replied on January 15, 2009 21:50 to the question "Using Calagator with Outlook" in Calagator:
You can subscribe to the full list of Calagator events with any calendar program that supports the iCalendar data format, including Outlook.
Here's how to find the link: http://skitch.com/spinnerin/bbj54/eve...
These directions for subscribing to a Google Calendar in Outlook might also be helpful: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/out...
Everything from step 5 on applies to subscribing to Calagator as well.

Audrey Eschright asked a question in Platial on October 13, 2008 15:52:
How can I add more than three custom place types to my map?Is this an option? I currently have three place types set, but the places I'm mapping really need more. I also don't seem to be able to use default place types like food & drink as the primary category for a placemark. The map in question is http://www.platial.com/map/Urban-Food...

The best way to find out whether you have everything is probably to run the specs with 'rake spec'. This will warn you if you're missing gems, migrations, etc. – Audrey Eschright, on September 10, 2008 22:22
