The answer is "No, there is no such setting." Apple claims that this behavior is by design. You are encouraged to post feedback on this to http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone..... It's truly annoying, and makes reading filtered mail on the iPhone much more difficult than it should be. This thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.j... covers the current state of complaints.
