A comment on the question "Is there a way to do a CSV export of the data?" in Sidebar Creative:
Personally, I think the data display is limited and the editing functions are limited as well (I'd like to cook my books for when I make errors/forget, or just start off late into the game with a new vehicle).
I would really like to be able to compare all data at the same time. I have three vehicles and I feel like my data is silo'd off the way things are now. My girlfriend and I travel very differently, and comparing a couple vehicles really opens your eyes as to where your money is going, or for the enviro-concious, where your carbon is going.
Lastly, I think no iPhone app is really bugging me. I found myself wanting to try some out, but no easy way to get my data there. That's pretty much what made me realize the problem I have.
These are what made me uneasy about having no export. CSV would be great. GasBag for the iPhone offers an export, but I believe it stores all the data locally. Having an iPhone app pretty much only solves the issue of entering a login every time. I know it's not that tough, but when it's -10C, and you're in a hurry, 30 seconds of no gloves feels like an eternity.
Thanks for opening the dialog - probably means more than getting the data export at this point. – SpyderCKE, on December 16, 2008 05:12

I hate to say it, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
This is a way to make it difficult for you to move to a new service when this one falls behind in features. No iPhone client with offline data entry, and no real records keeping of other events has left M3 trailing behind. I have started typing data into an excel sheet for the time being, as I don't really like the idea of being stuck here with too much data to make it worth leaving.
Outputting data from a database and emailing it, for example, is not difficult.
