It is possible that the specific video file format you're using is encoded in a unique way. Can you send us a sample file? Even a few seconds will do. You can post it on the muvee Maniacs forum.
Also, it'll help us if you tell us a bit about the device using which you captured your video.
Kumar replied on February 06, 2009 02:16 to the question "Share Multiple Muvees - does not work" in muvee:
Hi Sadie,
You need to click "Share muvee" after making every muvee that you want to burn to DVD.

Once you do that, your muvee will be added to the list of muvees and you can save them all in a batch or burn them all to DVD in a batch. This list will continue to exists even if you quit and launch muvee Reveal, so you can create muvees out of multiple projects as well.
You can see the whole list when you click the "Burn multiple muvees" button.

Let us know if this answers your question.

Ok I have some more info - quicktime is indeed the first step to decode mp4 files in muvee Reveal, so your uninstallation workaround makes sense. It looks like the problem shows up with video files encoded with handbrake that have B-frames.
One other workaround (with quicktime installed) therefore is to set the B-frames field to 0 in the advanced encoder settings of Handbrake.
Rodrigo - I've logged this issue internally. We'll post here once we have an update with this fix. Thanks a lot for your cooperation.
Kumar replied on February 03, 2009 03:30 to the question "Analyzing is taking ages!" in muvee:
Glad the problem is now clearer and workaroundable, but it is still strange to me 'cos I have quicktime installed too. muvee Reveal does support quicktime mov files, for example, when quicktime is installed so that pipeline is a valid one. Let me check with some colleagues and get back to you on whether there are similar known issues with specific versions of quicktime.

my address is kumar at muvee dot com. I also recommend you file a support ticket so we can walk you through some diagnostics to figure out the reason why your installation is crash prone. Have you already done that? – Kumar, on February 01, 2009 02:16

I wonder whether the codec that is kicking in is quicktime or the one that comes with muvee Reveal. Gimme some time to create a handbrake encoded video to see if it has some special characteristics. Meanwhile, can you please check if there is any change in the performance characteristic when you change the file extension from (I presume) ".mp4" to ".mpg"?

Hi Rodrigo,
Your problem is indeed strange (and frustrating of course). I may be able help since I run Reveal on a somewhat older Macbook Pro with Vista running under bootcamp.
Can you try the sample video that is installed when you install Reveal? You can find it in "C:\Program Files\muvee Technologies\muvee Reveal\Samples". Its a file called "video.wmv". Does that give you slow analysis and preview as well?-

Kumar replied on January 28, 2009 10:47 to the question "burning dvd" in muvee:
Hi Mary Ann,
Something occurred to me only now. If you viewed your DVD on TV and got black and white output, it is possible that you burned the DVD in, say, NTSC format and viewed on your TV which had the other PAL format setting, (or maybe SECAM or MESECAM). I've often seen such b&w effects crop up when the playing format doesn't match the TV's setting.
Does this resonate with your situation?

Your problem description suggests to me support for your video file's format has somehow been broken in Reveal. Can you describe to me what format yor video file is? Are you using DV files captured from your camera? Have you tried saving a muvee and do you still get the half-frame display your screen-shot shows?
Can you please also give me your machine and graphics card specification? This helps us in two ways - one is, of course, to see if it has any bearing on the problem you're facing .. and the other is to update our internal database so we can factor in support for machines in the same class as yours.
The easiest way to capture this specification is to run
c:\windows\system32\dxdiag.exe
click on "Save all information", select "Save as type: XML file" and send me the result XML file (to kumar at muvee dot com).

We do see a lot of people trying use music purchased from iTunes so I'd say that response is not entirely out of line :) Let me see if any one else has any insights on your problem. On the surface, it looks to me like Reveal is being given some mp3 decoder other than the default one.
Just for completeness, please do post your system information - most importantly your Operating System and the version of Windows Media Player you have.
I do hope this glitch doesn't stop you from experiencing Reveal.
Kumar replied on December 01, 2008 03:18 to the question "Music Not Supported!?!?" in muvee:
Hmmmm ... my guess is you could have a broken codec installation, but a weird one - since I presume you can play these mp3 files in WMP itself.
It'll be good to check with our support staff. Can I ask you to file a support ticket at http://www.muvee.com/en/support/ ? Meanwhile, you do have a work around of converting to wma before dropping your file into Reveal.
