sserre replied on September 12, 2008 02:03 to the question "Making program length correction in schedule that doesn't get modified in the record schedule." in Tightrope Media Systems:
I experienced the same issue about a month ago when my School Committee decided to change the time of their meeting from 7 PM back to 4 PM, for a single meeting that had been scheduled months earlier. (I too clicked the 'record run' box originally, which is a very convenient way to encode a scheduled program.)
I changed the scheduled time of the program and re-sent autopilot, but then found out later that the record tab needs to be manually changed when a schedule change like this is made.
It would be great if the record tab could update itself to reflect changes to the main schedule, or perhaps to send up a red flag when the record tab no longer matches the schedule.

For those of you that have Compix DSKs up and running, which product are you using, and if those are no longer being sold, what Compix product would you recommend purchasing at this point, that is both cost-effective and will work seamlessly with Cablecast?
We love our DSK feature, and are still using it with our TV One Corioscan devices. I'd like to spec out something a little better.
Thanks!

Hey Pete,
We do a lot of programs in 16x9, so we're looking forward to that streamlining in 4.8. Right now, whenever we compress a 16x9 program for the "dubbing" master copy for customers (SD, letterboxed), we must also print off a 4:3 copy to rip into the VS4 using DVD Import. No way around it from what I can see.

sserre shared an idea in Tightrope Media Systems on August 05, 2008 20:23:
"Heads-Up" Cablecast DashboardOver the last couple of days we've been involved with a major live production project, which has featured our TRMS Cablecast installation and really put the system through its paces! It has performed admirably, as we expected.
One idea that has emerged from this: it would be great if we could get a quick overview or "snapshot" of how the system is performing, the status of the various components, and what kinds of demands are being placed on the system. For example, on the main Cablecast menu screen, could there be a dashboard of sorts, that tells an operator (in addition to the current and next two programs scheduled):
--If the live IP Streaming is working, at what quality level, and how many users are connected;
--An embedded windows media box showing the webstream (switchable on/off);
--Status of VOD transcoding, and how many users are watching;
--Status of the router, and whether the automation is overridden;
--The last time Autopilot was sent, and the date/time the last event will occur;
--Status of Carousel (Alert mode?);
--If a device is running, current timecode and status (play, record)
--If encoder is running, which file is being encoded
--If Video Server is running, which file is being played and timecode;
--CPU load on each of the TRMS machines (especially cablecast server and any component that has video-intensive tasks)
I know much of this info is available on other (deeper) menu screens. But it would be very useful to have it all available on a top-level screen as a quick overview, perhaps with links to the deeper pages clickable on each variable.
I can understand if "clutter" is an issue on your main menu screen, and right now it's pretty streamlined. Perhaps this more advanced "dashboard" screen could be an alternate main menu screen, selectable in user settings, with user-selectable fields for each piece of data available? That way, those of us who want more info could quickly get our fix!
What do you think?

Thanks again John... I still seem to be just out of reach here. I made the changes to IIS as described above in your post, then restarted the Cablecast service and did an IISRESET, just in case. I can click the links on the public site, but in iTunes I get a (!) in the left column, and in an rss reader I get "empty." I also tried to connect using the ip address of the cablecast server inside the building just in case our firewall was blocking something... Nothing seems to work (help!)

John, great info. I think I'm 95% there. I already had a project going for our school committee meetings. So I went into that project and made it podcastable. I know I have at least one program from that project on the video server,so it should have begun to transcode. Now I just need one more piece of info: how do I find, and therefore give a potential viewer the correct url to subscribe to this podcast? Will this url appear somewhere on the public site, or is this something I'll need to copy/paste inside Cablecast, then add to our website??-

Hi John,
I noticed your post on configuring the podcast ip address. Thanks, I was able to go in and get these settings changed succesfully in our Cablecast server. However, I don't see anywhere on our public site that allows me (or anyone) to subscribe to a podcast, as described in the announcement for this version of the software:
Release Notes - Cablecast v4.6.4
...New - 2691: Subscribing to Podcasts via iTunes or RSS
The public site podcast page now has links for both iTunes and standard XML subscriptions.
When I go to our public site, I see no such podcast page. Here's a link to that page: http://www.pittsfieldtv.net/Cablecast...
I also couldn't find any configuration pages within the Cablecast user interface. If you could point me in the right direction, I would love to begin providing podcasts to viewers.
Thanks!
