I use a cable connection, and my Internet are 100% stable. No dropouts or anything. We have just got digital TV (SD + HD) in our town, and because of this all our ground wires have been improved with new fiber signal amplifiers and extended to more bandwidth. So my connection has never been better ever since :-)
But it irritate me, at SC don't have any guidelines for hunting down these upload problems. I'm not the only one that is suffering from this, and this is since last year when I made my SC profile. But I've discovered a new "plugin" tap in my Firefox browser, that I haven't taken note of before now. And there I have 10-12 plugins installed.
I'll see If I can make a list of them :-)

Okay, something must be wrong, since I'm getting the message?! :( I just haven't installed anything new on my computer. Is it something new, that you SC people has enabled, or has et been like this forever?
As SC has build in the funtion into the SC GUI. Can you then say anything about what plugins or other software that could cause. And is it only plugins in Firefox that causes it to happen, or can it also be Internet Security software. I've used Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 for a long time now withotu any problems. But lately KIS 2010 wanted to restart my PC, as I guess it has updated something that needed a restart. Don't know if this could have anything to do with it?

I can't upload anything with the default upload version. Only when I use the oldschool uploader, it sort of works.
The problem is, that the modern default uploader just stops at about 80% or so. Nothing else happens. And it really irritate me, as I the exchange audio funtions also doesn't work at all. The oldschool uploader works, but refreshing the screen and tell me when its finish uploading is completely off. Refreshing doesn't work no matter with uploader I choose.
If any of the uploaders work 100% in both uploading and refreshing the screen, then please tell up how we should set up our computers and what browser we should use + which plugins/extensions, versions we should remove or disable.
What I'm using:
I'm using XP pro, Firefox 3.5.3, addons: danish / english dictionary, java quick starter, dot net framework assistance 1.1... nothing else. And then I've disabled the popup blocker, as I recall you once said that I should.
I use Kaspersky Internet security 2010 (firewall disabled, as I also have a WRT320N router with build in firewall.)
Isn't it possible to tell us what you SC guys are using, and what settings you're using / have disabled.

Another thing I found today, maybe it's already mentioned in this topic. But I was going to make a comment which sort of went ok. But I could only write two lines of text in the popup box, then I could see the text I was writing, was disappearing under the two first lines of text? The textfield didn't expand to the lines of text.

Thanks matas,
Nice to know, that you in fact say that Firefox is the most test browser for FF.
I know my connection is stable upload/download, but I don't know about the the Flash installation, timing out, and FF extension thing. The only thing I use in FF is English, Danish dictionary + a Java quick starter 1.0.
What Flash installation/version should I use, and is there any way I can check my current?

What browser is need for SC, to get the most functions to work as intendedWhat browser is needed for SC, to get the normal upload (not the oldschool), and the audio replace to work?
Right now I use Firefox 3.5.2, and it does work in most cases. The only thing that has been making trouble since the day SC was official, is the upload/replace rutines. The upload progress bar sort of have a mind of its own :-) I've never figured out, why it rushes up to about 70-90% just after selecting the song for upload? And it just keeps standing there at the same value?
Since the upload stuff never really has been fixed for me, I thought that I might need to use another browser, or?

I also have a problem with leaving comments. Not on all comment entries, but I have one comment, that I can't reply to. All that happens is, that the bottom space where I'm supposed to enter my comment is turned into a single blue thin line of a pixel or so (the blur colour bar where your comment at... stands) - , very strange?!
Another happening I also see is, that by pressing "reply" the bottom text field simply disappear, and the popup box is re-sized without the text entry bottom part?
Strange, that a few of my comment popups have a ready text field, where all the others have nothing. I have to press "reply" where the earlier mentioned thin blue line appear, but no field I can type in?

Upload, replace audio is one area I really would wish the SC people would focus on. Since day one when I started using SC, upload has been a problem. The "normal" uploader has never worked here with Firefox or IE. I always have to you the oldschool uploader. And the replace routine doesn't work at all, I have to delete my audio, and upload a new file.
I would forget all about other features, and make uploading, replace audio priority number one, since this is the major function of SC.

Steen Larsen (SLL) replied on August 13, 2009 01:19 to the question ""Creating Waveform" on and on and on..." in SoundCloud:
I have the same problem, creating waveform takes forever. I've uploaded a 6 min. MP3 320kbit track, which has been creating waveform for more than 3 hours. At first I thought that problems could appear as I already have the same track uploaded before I uploaded it again. I tried the audio replace procedure, but this didn't work either. And now I have deleted the first version of the track, so there shouldn't be any problems. But I guess the different tracks is identified with some kind of ID, and the track names. So it should be possible to upload multible instances of the same tune, right?
Anyway, I think its strange that it takes so long to encode/create waveform :-)

Steen Larsen (SLL) replied on August 12, 2009 21:19 to the problem "Replace file not working" in SoundCloud:
i can't get replace file to work either. Yesterday I uploaded a new MP3 file (with the oldschool uploader, newschool doesn't work!), which I wanted to replace today with a new MP3 file with fixes. I'm not sure of how the replace file routine works, but i can't upload anything with the normal upload routine, I have to use the oldschool otherwise nothing gets uploaded with a screen saying - finishing... which stands so forever.
What I would really like, was some kind of status field or gauge that works and precisely tell you if uploading is in progress or encoding or waveform build is in progress. The current way is not working with Firefox 3.5.2 here. And this stands for both the normal uploader and the replace audio routine.
Step by step.. problem replacing MP3, not working...
What happens is, that I select the new file I want to upload. The minute press the replace button, the existing song name is check marked with a green flag? I haven't even started to upload anything?
Okay, then I select the file, clicking open to it, and a new uploading screen appears. But upload gauge is rushed up to about 88%, and stands still there? I've waited for an hour and I just can't see if anything is uploaded or what is happening. The MP3 is only 13mb on a 400kbit upstream, so it should take so long. But the thing is, that this uploading screen is the only thing I see with "processing" status on the botton. Something must be wrong, as I thought the screen would disappear when the upload and replacement was finish, or?
