Steen Larsen (SLL) replied on August 13, 2009 01:19 to the question ""Creating Waveform" on and on and on..." in SoundCloud:
I have the same problem, creating waveform takes forever. I've uploaded a 6 min. MP3 320kbit track, which has been creating waveform for more than 3 hours. At first I thought that problems could appear as I already have the same track uploaded before I uploaded it again. I tried the audio replace procedure, but this didn't work either. And now I have deleted the first version of the track, so there shouldn't be any problems. But I guess the different tracks is identified with some kind of ID, and the track names. So it should be possible to upload multible instances of the same tune, right?
Anyway, I think its strange that it takes so long to encode/create waveform :-)

i can't get replace file to work either. Yesterday I uploaded a new MP3 file (with the oldschool uploader, newschool doesn't work!), which I wanted to replace today with a new MP3 file with fixes. I'm not sure of how the replace file routine works, but i can't upload anything with the normal upload routine, I have to use the oldschool otherwise nothing gets uploaded with a screen saying - finishing... which stands so forever.
What I would really like, was some kind of status field or gauge that works and precisely tell you if uploading is in progress or encoding or waveform build is in progress. The current way is not working with Firefox 3.5.2 here. And this stands for both the normal uploader and the replace audio routine.
Step by step.. problem replacing MP3, not working...
What happens is, that I select the new file I want to upload. The minute press the replace button, the existing song name is check marked with a green flag? I haven't even started to upload anything?
Okay, then I select the file, clicking open to it, and a new uploading screen appears. But upload gauge is rushed up to about 88%, and stands still there? I've waited for an hour and I just can't see if anything is uploaded or what is happening. The MP3 is only 13mb on a 400kbit upstream, so it should take so long. But the thing is, that this uploading screen is the only thing I see with "processing" status on the botton. Something must be wrong, as I thought the screen would disappear when the upload and replacement was finish, or?

It still doesn't work :( I guess something happened with the "Kim" release, as reordering tracks in sets normally used to work for me. But now it doesn't. I've tried with Firefox 3.5.2 and IE8.0. Everytime I try to drag on a track, I just get a green check mark in the "title" field?!
Is there something new about this feature, that I don't know of?

Steen Larsen (SLL) reported a problem in SoundCloud on July 23, 2009 08:54:
Pressing play on a song, seeking pointer are sometimes missing over waveformJust after pressing the "play" button on a tune and buffering starts, if I drag the mouse to the right over the waveform. Normally you'll get a pointer over the waveform for locating seeking in the tune. Sometimes this pointer doesn't appear, and you can't seek in the song. But if you quickly drag your mouse away from the waveform control, and back again.. the pointer appear again?!
It's a little irritating, as the problem is pretty frequent here. As if the control forgets to set the seeking pointer the first time, if your mouse stays on the control after pressing play. But by moving the mouse way and back again on the control, pointer appears.-

Steen Larsen (SLL) replied on July 20, 2009 17:55 to the question "Can I re-order the tracks on my user page?" in SoundCloud:
Select between showing tracks and sets is a nice feature. I think people that will check up on your public profile, can lookup your tracks much easier on sets than on showing all tracks with more "next page" buttons.
But now that we can show sets instead of tracks, I would very much like to be able to choose the order of the sets. It's important for me, to show my most important sets at the top of the page, so that people will see/hear them first. Right now its not possible to do that, but I hope it will be a feature in the future. And the same stands for tracks, when they're showed :-)

Feature req: Add more pictures, photos to you group or profile...Feature request:
A possibility to upload more graphics, photos to your group and profile. Right now I think you only can have one photo attached to a group. And I think often you have to show people more photo stuff related to the group or your profile.
