Stephen asked a question in Flickchart on October 16, 2009 01:18:
More missing masterpiecesObviously, there's always complaints about important movies missing, and you've been very good about getting to them so far. But here's a few more suggestions:
-Orson Welles has only two movies here, but you're missing "The Magnificent Ambersons" and "Chimes at MIdnight" and "F for Fake" as well as several others
-Bergman's "Wild Strawberries" and "The Virgin Spring," as well as "Winter Light," "The Silence," and "Through a Glass Darkly"
-Fritz Lang's "M" and "The Big Heat"
-Murnau's "Sunrise" and "The Last Laugh" and "Faust"
-There's a few more Powell and Pressburger out there, including "A Matter of Life and Death," "A Canterbury Tale," "The Small Back Room," and "I Know Where I'm Going!"
-A bunch of John Ford movies, including "The Grapes of Wrath," "How Green Was My Valley," "Young Mr. Lincoln," "Drums ALong the Mohawk," "Stagecoach," "Fort Apache," "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon," "Rio Grande," and "My Darling Clementine"
-Tarkovsky's "Andrei Rubilev"
-Godard's "Breathless"
All these films are considered masterpieces. I'd suggest checking with They Shoot Pictures Don't They?'s list of 1,000 Greatest Films as well as their list of the most acclaimed films of the 21st Century.-

As he said, any Ingmar Bergman movie, especially The Seventh Seal.
Powell & Pressburger films, including The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus.
Any Jean-Luc Godard films.
Any Jean Renoir films, especially Rules of the Game.
Fritz Lang movies, especially M.
Buster Keaton movies, like The General and Steamboat Bill, Jr.
And more Orson Welles, especially The Magnificent Ambersons and Touch of Evil.
Obviously you're still working on this, just some helpful suggestions.-
