New Mac version of My Vodafone Xpress released - 15/07/09Thanks to the awesome feedback of the Get Satisfaction community, a new release of My Vodafone Xpress for Mac OSX has been released. There are a few bug fixes in this release however there were 2 issues we couldnt address.
1. The cell spacing on the dock icon
2. File permissions on the installed application. This related to multiple users being able to change the My Vodafone Xpress settings. By default the user who installs the application had full read-write access to the “User Preferences” file on the Mac. However if a different computer user wanted to run the app and changed the settings then the settings were not being captured because they didn’t have write permissions to the file
3. Error message displayed when the app is already running – Previously, this message mentioned “systray”, which is a windows concept (Oops!) This has been replaced with a more suitable message :)
A couple of things we werent able to fix though :(
Icon stays selected - Since the app was build in Java SWT, there is a limitation on Macs that will keep the application selected for some reason. We checked out the Azureus .torrent client (Which is built with SWT) and it had the same issues when we were testing. We are looking to build the full version of MVX in Java 6 which gets rid of this issue, but that is some time away.
Removing the dock Icon - There is an attribute that the app passes to display the dock icon or not. In our testing, even with the attribute removed, the icon would *sometimes* display, sometimes it wouldn't and we really arent sure why. The devs think it might be because the app is built in Java? If anyone has any ideas on this feedback is appreciated
Thank you all for the continued feedback about My Vodafone Xpress, its most appreciated.
Regards,
Steve

Hi guys!
A little bit of an update for you! :)
The latest and greatest version of My Vodafone Xpress has just been uploaded :) This release fixes a couple of issues:

--------------
Tim - That video is kind of dated :( There is a fair bit going on around the business right now (Funnily enough) however once it settles down having a better demo is on the list of "must dos"!
Reaper - Valid concern about the user setting being carried over to different OS user accounts. We had a good look at ways to overcome that issue and it is a hefty one to fix. Right now *not* checking 'Remember my password* is the best solution to stop anything like that happening. Not ideal I understand. For a full version we will be looking to fix this one in a user friendly manner rather than a rough, not very intuitive, method thats there now.
Let me know how you all go
Regards,
Steve

Hey Tom
Thanks for taking the time to give us some feedback.
We published the latest version of the Mac client yesterday afternoon about 5pm. That release *should* have fixed the icon spacing and rendering issue. I havent got a Mac myself so I cant check it but it sounds like its still not 100%?
The web2txt menu link is a server side include, so we just needed to tweak the config on our side rather than have it as part of a release. If there is a menu item that you think would be good to have, let us know and dependent on what it is, we should be able to include it pretty quickly :)
Thats a fair comment about the bill reminder, it does make the app seem a little dim doesn't it :) Have included it as a must have for the full release later this year!
Again thanks for taking the time to give us some feedback, its appreciated.
Regards,
Steve

2 people having the same problem is good, at least its repeatable :) Now to try and find out what the problem is.
What OS are you guys running?
Jordan - There are a few bugs we are ironing out with help from people like yourself and Shaiful :) Getting feedback from customer like yourself also makes sure the full product we release is useful for you and not just our perception of what is it we think you need, if that makes sense!

Yep will have the ability to 'remember me' on the passwords
Under preferences you can manually enter in proxy details. I have asked that in the next full release that network settings be pulled from browser settings automatically.
We went with Get Satisfaction because it keeps the feedback loop impartial and open, something we have been told our customers want. It also allows people to see previous questions answered which may solve a problem or answer a question they have themselves, which is what the internet is all about :)

Hey John
Thanks for taking the time to let us know about this. Can I ask that you go through this link (http://vodafone.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...) and put your phone number in there as well as mention Get Satisfaction and just copy and paste what you have said in your post. I will let the crew know its coming and we can have a look at it for you and see what the problem is.
Regards,
Steve
