The problem that Rich has identified is not an issue for tech folks to work on. It is a conscious decision by the advertising department to allow expandable ads that block content from the publishing side. It is one thing to have expandable ads that takeover the site when the visitor clicks on them. It is quite another for these ads to automatically expand and force the visitor to find the hidden CLOSE button.
Today I logged onto the Sports section and discovered a new, even worse example of ignoring good online practices and shoving rich content at us. The new CineSport video video segment is not automatically playing and blasting sound when visitors land on the page. This is ridiculous. I've already seen posts dedicated to this annoyance on your message boards.
It is one thing if I choose to have this content play, but it's altogether different when obtrusive content is selected for me. The Sun needs to re-think its policies for this sort of content. Thanks.-
