StevenR replied on November 16, 2009 20:52 to the question "The playlist changes and can't be changed back!" in Spotify:
That will happen if you have changed the sort order of the list by clicking on any of the column names like Track or Artist. As the list is being sorted on that column, you cannot manually rearrange the tracks. To be able to do that again you need to switch back to the default sort order by clicking the small column which has no name on the left hand side of the list (to the left of Track).

Metadata API: Territories sometimes don't agree with Spotify applicationSometimes when using the Metadata API to lookup an album it seems to indicate availability in a territory it is not actually available in. For example:
Spotify link: spotify:album:2iYd8lON7MLVKl2ShJrACA
Search: http://ws.spotify.com/lookup/1/?uri=s...
This includes GB and IE in the territories which I believe means the United Kingom and Ireland, but when I open the link in Spotify it tells me "This album is currently not available in United Kingdom".
Why is there this discrepancy?-

StevenR replied on October 24, 2009 22:41 to the idea "Application: ITV Player" in boxee:
I've created an unofficial app for the ITV Player - see this forum post for more details. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work on the Apple TV and I don't know if it is possible to make it work as it is most likely related to Flash issues specific to the Apple TV.
A comment on the idea "Purchasing - link to existing 7Digital account" in Spotify:
I think the problem is that the Download button disappears if the track has already been downloaded on that computer. If the downloaded track is corrupted and you want to re-download it you need to find the file (the preferences will tell you where to look) and delete it to make the button reappear. – StevenR, on October 22, 2009 07:47

Allow "orphaned" purchased song files to be re-associated with Spotify track.I had purchased a song though Spotify and downloaded it, but the track became renamed (well, I accidentally renamed it - oops) but this results in Spotify no longer associating the downloaded file with the track (and renaming it back does nothing). Of course, the MP3 is still playable but, as this is a track no longer streamable in Spotify it prevents it from playing within Spotify. It would be good if Spotify could allow the downloaded files which have been "orphaned" like this to be re-associated with the track.
As I have only downloaded one track, I used the clunky workaround of copying the "purchased.bnk" file from another computer I had downloaded the track onto, but a slightly less clunky method would be better.-

Option to migrate source - change drive letter, etc.I have most of my media on an external drive. Recently the drive letter of the drive changed, which meant Boxee had to re-index all the media.
It would be useful if there was an option to migrate a source from one location to another. There wouldn't need to be any copying involved, it would just update the locations in the index (although a copy option could also be useful if we want to migrate a local source to be located on a network share).
StevenR replied on October 09, 2009 21:55 to the question "Why did Spotify do this" in Spotify:
I believe the invite token requirement has been used as a way to control the number of users, so the servers don't get overloaded. This requirement was there from the beginning, but for some countries such as the UK it was removed for a while. As far as I know, the reason the requirement has been reinstated in all countries is due to the huge amount of interest in Spotify generated by the publicity around the iPhone and Android apps. If the requirement was not reinstated, the servers could have quickly become swamped.

Support for "DVD extras" for moviesIt would be great if we could rip the extra features ("making of" documentaries, etc.) from a DVD of a movie and associate these with the movie itself. Instead of appearing as separate movies these would appear as options under More Info or even as a separate Extras option.

StevenR reported a problem in Spotify on October 06, 2009 21:59:
Problems with MusicBrainz MBID searchI am having trouble getting the mbid: advanced search option, which should search by a MusicBrainz artist, album, or track id to return anything.
The only one I have tried that works is mbid:d2126f31-5b6b-4a4b-98d3-408cfd4186b2 to give the album Invincible by Michael Jackson (which is the example given on the page about the advanced search syntax here) I haven't found any other MBIDs (artist, album, or track) which return anything. Is there a problem with this search query?

Seriously odd artist names on The Holloways - So This Is Great BritainThe album "So This is Great Britain" by The Holloways was previously removed from Spotify and has now been re-added (open in Spotify). However, it now has some very strange artist names on the tracks "Fit For A Fortnight", "Two Left Feet", and "Re-Invent Myself?". For example the artist for "Fit For A Fortnight" is "Physical CD: 016581613027: N/A in Label Connect" and the other two are just as strange.
It would be good if these could be fixed,as otherwise it could seriously mess up the Last.fm stats for anybody with scrobbling enabled who listens to these.

StevenR replied on September 24, 2009 20:04 to the question "Spotify on iPod Touch gen 2" in Spotify:
Have you got the iPods volume turned up as well? The volume control in the Spotify iPhone/iPod Touch app is independent from the system volume control and you need to have both controls turned up to make it louder. Strangely the Android version apparently doesn't have this issue and has a volume control in Spotify that also controls the system volume.
StevenR replied on September 24, 2009 07:35 to the question "Doesnt work changing place in playlist?" in Spotify:
You may have changed the sort order of the playlist by clicking on one of the column headings (e.g. clicked on the track name column to sort by track name). This prevents you from dragging tracks to reorder them. If you click on the small unnamed column header on the left, this will reset to default order (the order you added the tracks) and allow you to move the tracks around.

Playback sometimes stutters in iPhone app (even in offline mode)I've noticed that sometimes playback will stutter and break up when playings tracks in the iPhone app (on my iPod Touch with OS 3.1). At first I thought this was related to a weak Wi-Fi signal, but I have since experienced this even when I forced Spotify into Offline mode and play my offline playlists.

Improved social features in Boxee (neighbours, tagging, etc.)I think Boxee could be improved by having some more social features. We already have a Friends feature but a Neighbours feature which works like in sites such as Last.fm would be good. It would find other users who watch the same movies or shows as us. If there a privacy concerns about this, the list of neighbours could be hidden and simply used to drive an automatic recommendations system.
Tagging could also be good, both for music (the Last.fm API could be used to integrate this with their tags) and for video (both local and internet video). This could be very good for searching.
StevenR replied on September 19, 2009 12:29 to the problem "Paul Hardcastle Zero One not playable in iPhone app" in Spotify:
It appears that the problem is that the low bitrate versions of the tracks on this album have been made unavailable. This means that in the desktop application you get the message "the label/artist has chosen to make the tracks unavailable" if you don't have "Enable high bitrate" enabled in your preferences. It also means that the tracks will not be available in the mobile versions, as they don't support the high bitrate option.
