Hi Sunil, you can find the example files for this book here. Most of our books have an Examples link below the image of the cover on the book's catalog page.
Steve Weiss replied on September 30, 2008 18:34 to the question "Deke McClellan's books on Illustrator CS4" in O'Reilly Media:
Hi, Russ,
We're glad to hear that you purchased--and hopefully find enjoyable and quite useful--Deke's Photoshop- and InDesign CS3 One-on-One titles.
Any book that Deke does on any of the CS4 point products will of course be centered on getting the most out of that particular version of the software. That doesn't mean that Deke approaches each new book aiming to simply cover what's new in the new version of the software.... rather, his One-on-One learning method is project- and results- based: you learn how to do the most common stuff associated with that program. If Adobe changes how something integral to these processes works, Deke changes how he writes about it.
All of this is by way of saying that the answer you're looking for has more to do with your assessment of the changes Adobe's made between CS3 and CS4.
Here are a few places you can check out, in order to learn more right now (since CS4 hasn't yet been released and as such, no one can talk about the deep details yet):
http://www.adobe.com/products/illustr...
http://www.zoom-in.com/blogs/photo-de...
http://www.gomediazine.com/design-tip...
Alas, I know of no other book/DVD combos on Illustrator CS3 that would fit the bill as you've requested. That's one of the big reasons Deke's wanted to do this Illustrator book; we definitely hear you: there's a big need for it...
We hope this helps, and thanks for keeping Deke's Illustrator CS4 book on your "gotta check it out" list!

I appreciate your rapid response. A great first step in showing a customer that you value their opinions and loyalty as part of the process of keeping them a customer.
I would think O'Reilly would have more involvement with the web content associated with it's products. It seems like just part of what comes with the business of publishing books of this nature.
This is why I hold O'Reilly accountable and not Rich Shup, or even his ISP. Win me back or lose me forever.
Steve Weiss replied on September 18, 2008 17:53 to the discussion "I expect MORE from an O'Reilly product! Re: www.learningactionscript3.com" in O'Reilly Media:
Hi, Dan. I just called the author, Rich Shupe, and he's looking into this immediately with his ISP. He said the site was up a few hours ago when he was last adding content to it.
As you've pointed out in citing other customer comments, there indeed was a brief period several months ago where the ISP for the site was also down. Since then, we know of no other incidents of the companion site being unavailable.
That said, I certainly understand the seriousness of your predicament and the fact that this experience has fallen far short of your expectations; I realize an apology won't help you, but I am truly sorry for what's happened here.
Rich will be contacting me as soon as he contacts his ISP, and I'll get back to you ASAP thereafter.

Jag replied on September 12, 2008 14:51 to the problem "Robbins' 3rd Ed. text has printed errors" in O'Reilly Media:
Every printed book has errors, sometimes plenty of them. In my opinion, O'Reilly is usually on the lower side of errors, and they do clean them up in subsequent printings. For example, I'm currently reading Core Python, an otherwise great book marred by incredibly sloppy editing.
As with anything else, caveats apply... never buy version 1.0 of a book if you can't stand the errors :) At least wait for the next printing
Steve Weiss replied on September 12, 2008 12:28 to the problem "Robbins' 3rd Ed. text has printed errors" in O'Reilly Media:
Hi, Shelley,
Indeed, there were errors that made it into the first printing of the book, and for this we are deeply apologetic. We've subsequently posted an errata list on the book's O'Reilly web page:
http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596527...
We've eliminated the errors in subsequent printings of the book. Can you take a look at the errata list to see how these jibe with what you're seeing on your printing of the book?
Many thanks, and sorry for the hassles this has caused you.

FGerantaee replied on August 20, 2008 04:02 to the question "How to download Dynamic.Learning.Dreamweaver.CS3 exercise files?" in O'Reilly Media:
Hello wilde:
Can you be more specific as to which files seem to be missing, and what chapter it's affecting for you?
These files are a supplemental to the lesson files included on the DVD that comes with the book, so it's necessary to still copy those files from the DVD to your computer when following the exercises.
Thanks, Fred Gerantabee
Steve Weiss replied on August 18, 2008 23:05 to the question "What is the status of Dynamic Learning: Illustrator CS3?" in O'Reilly Media:
Hi, AdamL,
Alas, yes; I'm sorry to tell you that *Dynamic Learning: Illustrator CS3* is no longer on our publishing plan. (Glad you liked the *Dynamic Learning Photoshop* book, though....)
I can't make any recommendations based from using other books; I do know that anything Mordy Golding writes (see *Real World Adobe Illustrator CS3*) is worth looking at; he used to be the product manager for Illustrator and is exceptionally dedicated to teaching well.
Have you reviewed the Amazon reader reviews for the Illustrator CS3 books that are out there? At the very least, they can help you distinguish among the learning methodologies and target audiences for each book, as well as how effectively the author(s) fit what they've written within those parameters.
I hope this helps for now. For later.... when a new version of CS comes out, we'll have something I think you and all other Illustrator users will be extremely interested in.... <g>

snappir replied on August 09, 2008 18:31 to the idea "Will you do a book on Aperture 2?" in O'Reilly Media:
Hello,
I checked Amazon.com.
Right now there is only ONE book on Aperture 2(Apple Pro Training Series).
Another, by FocalPress(Digital Flow) is coming out in September, and one more(by Wiley, Portable Genius) in January 2009. This one is the most affordable, $16, over 300 pages.
3 or 4 more books are for the 1 - 1.5 versions, which are basically dead.
IMHO, The Missing Manual for Aper.2 is essential. By January there will be probably 3-4 books in total.
The Missing Manual being the most popular series will have a good chance to "break even" and more.
The Mac market is growing at a jet speed.
WE NEED YOUR BOOK NOW! ;-)
I have Pogue's iPhoto '08 manual, but probably very soon going to move to Aperture, in order to avoid using Photoshop Elements 6, which is quite heavy and takes almost 3 minutes to load.
Thanks!
