I'm using a public educational 2.0 wiki and this doesn't seem to work either. It redirects me to the User Settings page, and I cannot find a way to edit the text itself - only send the emails.
Nothing with the text is wrong exactly, but I need to change some of the wording and make it a bit more specific.

A comment on the question "Notifications" in PBwiki:
Just a clarification on Casey Green's explanation re: "The first box, if checked, will send notifications to the users when they themselves make an edit. " Is this only or as well as. i.e. if I check this box and I make the edit will I be the only person to receive the edits or does it mean the editor receives notifications along with everyone else? – Jane Corin, on June 30, 2008 23:14-

There are a few ways to change notification settings, and some the admin can do, some the user has to do. I've tried to write them up as concisely as possible, so if there's a better way I could explain things, let me know.
Notifications are controlled in several different places.
In My.PBwiki.com
Log into your account at my.pbwiki.com. There you will see a list of the wikis you have access to. There will be a check-box under the column "Enable Notifications" that will determine whether you receive notifications for changes in this wiki.
Scroll down a bit, and under Preferences, there will be a drop-down box that will allow you to set how often you want to be notified of changes in general, for wikis you have enabled notifications for. Click the Submit button to save any changes.
At YOURWIKI.pbwiki.com
Go to your wiki and click on Settings in the upper right hand corner. Scroll to Notifications, under Monitor. The first box, if checked, will send notifications to the users when they themselves make an edit. The second box will disable notifications when new people log into the wiki, but isn't used much in 2.0.
If you or other users of your wiki have enabled notifications in their PBwiki Account, they will show up on this page, and there will be an option available to the administrator to stop them from receiving notifications.
In Notification Emails
At the bottom of each notification email, there are two links. One is to change your notification preferences, which redirects to my.pbwiki.com. The second is to turn off emails completely, which changes the drop-down box under Preferences in my.pbwiki.com to "Never." You are then redirected to my.pbwiki.com to re-calibrate your notification preferences.

NotificationsHow to reinstate notifications once you've stopped them for an individual?

In the beta version, we've disabled Invite Keys - you can read more about this discussion in this thread: http://getsatisfaction.com/pbwiki/top...

Ramit,
I also have the same issue. I think what the inquirer was referring to was the relative informality of the invitation. "Check this out..." is something one might send to friends but not necessarily to colleagues. In addition, we might prefer to add other relevant information about what the recipient is receiving the mail, etc.
In the end the invitation-with-key process is not very useful to me, since apparently providing someone with contributor access this way, means (I think I'm right on this) that one never knows which one of the key holders might have edited a page. But if one wanted to send an invitation based on the user having a PB Wiki Account (which I believe will identify the user who changes a wiki page, then 1) there is no way to upload/cut-paste a large number of e-mail addresses nor 2) is there a way that I can see to modify the e-mail invitation the PB wiki sends out when using this method.

I'd like to send e-mail invitations and have users set up a PB Wiki account, yhis apparently is the only way that one will know who has changed a page. Since I have almost 200 individuals to invite, I'm looking for a batch upload feature I don't seem to see, In addition, the e-mail that PB Wiki generates inviting people to the wiki is kind of...well, not my style, so how can I provide my own invitation or modify what PB wiki sends?.
