Michael Stringer replied on December 10, 2009 11:39 to the question "Apt signing key" in Yuuguu:
Apologies for not sorting this out sooner. The Yuuguu public key can be downloaded from http://www.yuuguu.com/repositories/yu.... If this works for people please let me know and I will get it added to the installation instructions.
13thslayer - this shouldn't be an issue. The package is the same for all versions of (k)ubuntu so the 'hardy' repository will work on intrepid, jaunty, karmic and (hopefully) lucid.
A comment on the question "I cannot connect to Yuuguu" in Yuuguu:
Gergely,
On Linux you need to change your proxy settings in the Java Plugin Control Panel (usually under settings in the application menu).
Yuuguu stores its settings using the Java preferences which (on Linux) get saved to ~/.java/.userPrefs/com/yuuguu Delete this directory and it will reset all you Yuuguu settings. – Michael Stringer, on December 09, 2009 16:38

Apologies for the delay in responding to this - I have only just had chance to reproduce and look at this issue.
Skype 2.8 for Mac introduced a number of bugs in the API that we use to integrate with Skype. I have raised these bugs with Skype and added a number of workarounds that should resolve this issue. The only downside is that Skype chat history will no longer be displayed in the Yuuguu client.
These workarounds will be included in the next release (due shortly). Until they are released if you need Skype integration I recommend using the old 2.7 version of Skype.

Michael Stringer replied on September 16, 2009 08:54 to the problem "Is there support for fedora 64-bit on INTEL-based processors?" in Yuuguu:
The 64-bit version should work on 64-bit Intel processors (they are compatible).
The filename includes the term amd64 because AMD extended the existing 32-bit architecture to add 64-bit support. Some versions of Linux use the term x86_64 instead of amd64 which might be leading to your confusion.
Can you please post the error message that you are getting when you try to install the 64-bit version of Yuuguu so we can diagnose what the issue is?

Michael Stringer replied on September 11, 2009 18:57 to the question "Should the 32-bit version of Yuuguu be able to run on a 64-bit Linux box?" in Yuuguu:
Yuuguu on Linux uses a small native library which depends on a number of system libraries (mainly X11 stuff). Errors trying to load these libraries are why Yuuguu is failing to start for you. It is possible to install 32bit compatible versions of these libraries but it isn't recommended.
Please install the 64bit version - I've posted the link in the other discussion and the site will be fixed early next week.

Michael Stringer replied on September 08, 2009 08:35 to the idea "Integrating with Pidgen/libPurple/Adium" in Yuuguu:
Mark,
We accept that all the major IM networks use C or C++ for their clients and that this helps them to develop a slicker UI. However these UIs are only run on a single platform (usually Windows). If an official client is available on other platforms the UI (and often functionality) is completely different.
One of the goals of Yuuguu was to make a single client that would run on all platforms and provide a consistent user experience. The client UI is overdue an overhaul but at the moment we are focusing on getting features finished that have been in the pipeline for some time and fixing the mess that Yahoo have dropped us in with their protocol changes.

Michael Stringer replied on September 01, 2009 12:55 to the question "Older version of Yahoo Messenger on Yuuguu ?" in Yuuguu:
Yahoo recently updated the protocol that Yahoo Messenger uses and started sending that message to any clients that are on the older versions. The way that Yuuguu connects to Yahoo mimics the way that the old Yahoo Messenger client did which is why people are seeing this message.
We are looking into updating our Yahoo connectivity and should have a solution for this soon.

Michael Stringer replied on August 17, 2009 15:10 to the idea "Integrating with Pidgen/libPurple/Adium" in Yuuguu:
I'm afraid that integrating with Pidgin isn't feasible.
Pidgin is written in C whereas Yuuguu is written in Java. The only way that Yuuguu could be integrated into Pidgin is to scrap the entire client at which point it ceases to be Yuuguu.
We are planning on overhauling the Yuuguu user interface in the future and we have already implemented Skype integration.
