I stumbled on the calendar improvements today before even knowing that you'd changed them. I guess that means they were timely. I was looking for a way to more easily view multiple months for planning purposes and, presto!, there they were. Thanks a bunch. I'll check out the other changes soon.

Hooray! On two counts: One I get a cute little favicon! Second, that I could help you guys find one of those pesky bugs. Best to all of you! May your work be exciting, rewarding, and profitable. – Summiteer, on October 27, 2009 17:21

Did as you said, but it doesn't appear. Just get the standard teensy blank sheet of paper icon. I use a redirect from another site address, but even when I use the Airset url I still get no favicon. I've checked the image and it's marked "public". The web document file folder is "private", if that makes any difference. – Summiteer, on October 26, 2009 21:28

Always Link to the right AirSet Registration
I just figured out that I had created a problem in getting people to join a web computer. I had created a web page based on high school class reunion. On the web page I invited classmates to join the cloud computer and inserted a link. Unwittingly I linked only to the "join Airset" page with the result that even though classmates had registered on Airset they weren't part of the class cloud computer. They ended up with heir own nifty personal cloud computer but had no idea why or what to do with it.

I hadn't realized that there were two DIFFERENT links. With one you only get an AirSet account; with the other, you link to the "join this cloud computer" dialog where you get an account AND ALSO end up a member on the computer you were invited to join.

I've discovered that technology is a mystery to a lot of people my age, so if I can entice them to venture into cyberspace at all, it takes very little to raise the frustration level to the "I give up" point---I may only get one shot, so things need to go flawlessly. Thankfully, one persevering classmate sent me a "hey-what's-the-deal" email that helped me find the problem.

    Uploading to AirSet:
I may have been having some learning curve problems because I don't seem to be having the problem now. Something in the way that I have filed my photos may be causing a problem. In the "Pictures" folder on my computer I have multiple folders. Fotobounce reads the sub-folders as albums and I notice that when I upload to AirSet, some come through without the .albm extension. When I rename the file and give it the extension, it begins to show up as an AirSet album. I believe the problem is that some of my folders have a character that Fotobounce doesn't like, namely the & symbol. When it sees that it truncates the folder name and the extension. I think that's what is happening.

    Downloading from AirSet:
Going to Airset to download an album from a cloud computer, it recognizes groups (the gray three face-circles in a square icon) by name. When I click the cloud computer it brings up the names of the albums, each below the blue rectangle with "Airset - File not found" in it. One album shows the photo icon for the album, the rest just have the place holder. First, I thought the album wasn't there because I got the placeholder, but I find that the photos are actually there, just not the album's icon, so I can download the album from Airset using the angled down-arrow at the top left of the page.

Fotobounce --OK, now what do I do?
I notice a new icon on the Albums ap. Fotobounce. Hmm, sounds interesting. Love new stuff to explore. I've downloaded Fotobounce. Looks promising. Can't seem to access AirSet Albums, just the AirSet "file not found" slug. Facebook transfers over well, but not Airset albums. This is new to me so I'm probably missing something.

I did discover one thing upon further exploration: One of AirSet albums does show up in Fotobounce. Interestingly, it is the only album that was last modified by someone besides me. All albums that I last modified show up as file not found.

    AirSet for Dummies Pop-up
Just discovered a user issue. Some folks have been viewing our calendar and had no idea they could hover the cursor over the event to get more info. How hard would it be to include a pop-up that appears automatically when you come to a screen that explains what you do with that particular screen. On a calendar screen: "Point cursor to an event for more details." Or when you come to the RSVP screen: "Click on your name to change your status. You can select..." Make the pop-up with a "Don't show this to me again" option for when you know what you're doing, but maybe still keep it accessible via an icon or something. Some of our users go through the "I don't know what to do" panic attack with every unfamiliar screen and sometimes give up. Think of this as an "AirSet for Dummies" feature for every screen that users have to interact with.

OK, the problem seems to have resolved itself. The only thing different is an update of to the most recent release of RealPlayer (and it's FireFox add-on in the process). I'm a little mystified that should change anything since the player on the Airset site is Windows MP11. Not that I'm complaining, but I am mystified.

I checked the player as you suggested and Windows media player version 11 comes up. Have there been problems with the newer release? My default player is RealPlayer, but that's not what comes up when I click "About" on the Airset web page. I'm using the default player settings. I use Firefox 3.5 running on Vista. I'm encouraged that the problem appears to be local, but I suppose there could be others having problems, too, depending on their configuration. Thanks for walking me through this. – Summiteer, on September 29, 2009 01:43

That's what it sounded like to me, too. I suspected that the file needed to be changed to public, but everything that can be set to public is, the playlist, the file, and the music folder. The URL is http://macarthurchristian.com. It's set to auto-play.It redirects to AirSet. Click on "Learning & Growing." Thanks for helping me pursue this. – Summiteer, on September 28, 2009 21:08

    Playlist widget and website fidget
We add a weekly audio file to our playlist which is to be available on our website for folks who don't make it to church on Sundays. The problem is that when I add the latest file and put at the top of the list, when you try to listen to it from the website, the new file doesn't play. The new file name appears, but when yo click it, the second file on the list plays. The first two filenames on the list play the second file. I've had this problem a couple of times, got around it somehow, but can't remember what the magic formula is to make sure the widget plays the proper file. Both the playlist and the file are marked public and the problem doesn't appear within the playlist ap, or the web publish ap, only when the playlist is published on the site. Sounds like an issue in the widget or am I missing a step somewhere?

    Playlists aren't always music...
In a future release, can you change the playlist terminology to reflect a broader use of the app? Right now it assumes that the playlist will only contain music. The icons are musical notes, and the files are referred to as "songs." For our use, the playlist doesn't contain music, but speaking, as in classes and teachers. Can you use different terms and icons that can be either? A microphone or speaker for an icon, and use 'clip' or 'audio' for text description of the files.

    Thanks, Jim-
I checked back and it's been about a month, so maybe I need to give it a little more time. I'll wait a bit and then do another search and see if I hit paydirt later in September. – Summiteer, on September 10, 2009 16:08

Hey, Mr. Google Bot! Look! See!
Allow me to revive an old topic: Can anyone give me some ideas about getting an AirSet web page (wxyz.airset.com) to show up in search engines? I've added keywords to the page attributes on one of our sites, but nothing has turned up after several weeks. I understand that AirSet sites are mostly in Java, but maybe there can be searchable page added somehow that can be accessed by a web-crawler. Are there any tweaks, tricks, or hacks that can get an airset hosted site to show up on Google or Bing? I need to do another site, but it has to be searchable to be effective. Thoughts, anyone?

As a follow-up to this thread, I've dealt with the problem of forgetting to send the RSVP notice. I schedule a recurring "reminder-event" in my personal calendar concurrent with the event that I need to send an RSVP notice about. I title my "reminder-event" something like "Send RSVP notice-Leaders Mtg" and then set the the "reminder-event" reminder for a few days ahead of the meeting. That alerts me, perpetually, to send the RSVP notice.

Alternatively, I could set a recurrent "reminder-event" in the cloud computer where the meeting is scheduled and then mark myself as the only participant and the reminder-event as "private."

I Use AirSet for Everything...you guys rock!
I am a hard-core AirSet user. I've organized multiple groups with the service, created multiple websites with it (finally getting familiar with the design tools) and use it constantly--everything from Connector to Contacts. You guys are absolutely terrific. Thanks for an awesome product.

    Blocks, blacklists & webmail
Over the last few months there have been some incidents of certain domains blocking AirSet generated email (Yahoo! comes to mind). Are there other domains that have filtered out AirSet webmail? It seems that some of my AirSet webmail messages may not be getting through. I'm not certain, since some of our members aren't very diligent or knowledgeable when it comes to computing, but there's the possibility that some of our announcements are being blocked. Are there any known domains that have blacklisted AirSet so we can try to deal with any problems?

Also, I discovered that it's possible to use an ad block add-on to block AirSet. I was beta testing a web site and directed non-AirSet users to the orange "Join Now" rectangle in the ad-bar and discovered that for at least one user that icon had been blocked. Has this been an issue? If so, what are your suggestions? (I got around that by embedding a 'join AirSet' widget into the site).

I note that the login widget is different. I like it. Problem, though: It no longer fits in the space I allocated on our web site. The "Sign In" button seems to be covering the check box text for "remember me". The area type is set for the login widget which is configured vertically, so I thought I could just make the layout space larger by adjusting the height, but that doesn't seem to help. Any thoughts?
