Summiteer reported a problem in AirSet on June 29, 2009 04:34:
Navigation Gadget Pops its ButtonsI've designed a web site using Airset web publish. It includes a page navigation bar at left with buttons designed in the page navigator gadget. The problem is that on the public web site, for no reason that I can see, the buttons have stopped appearing, only the text. When I access the site in Airset, in an attempt to edit the gadget, the buttons appear normally, but visitor to the web site will see only text. Why would this happen spontaneously? and more important, what can I do to get the buttons to appear again?
A comment on the question "What happened to the images in my webmail?" in AirSet:
I was aware of that and thought that the images got marked "public" when I uploaded (nice option and prompt at the upload, by the way. Thanks.) There's always the chance that I was mistaken, although all the files are "public" right now. I"ll try again with the next e-letter and double check that and get back to you if there's a problem. Thanks. – Summiteer, on June 11, 2009 04:53

What happened to the images in my webmail?I used webmail to send out the first of what is going to a regular e-letter to subgroups on two web computers (one newsletter, two computers). I tried to insert images in the letter, but now it looks as though the images didn't show up except on my computer. Others got the 'file not found' prompt. Do the image files have to be in the web computer of each sub-group or can they be only in web computer that is originating the email, like my personal web computer?
Or is there something else I'm missing?
Summiteer replied on April 09, 2009 00:43 to the idea "Contacts: More Printing options" in AirSet:
OK, I get it. Too many options complicates things on the top end. Well, how about just offering a different page format? Not customizable, but maybe another style. Or, barring that, I'd just like to get rid of the black bars and the teensy-weensy thumbnail photos. I'm trying to simplify the effort in a small, tech-shy office, so the idea of exporting vCard files and such is probably too complicated.
Summiteer shared an idea in AirSet on April 07, 2009 23:17:
Contacts: More Printing optionsI'd like have a bit more flexibility in printing a contact list. I've mentioned before that I'd love to lose the big black bars at the beginning of each section (dreadful waste of ink and sometimes hangs up collating when drying). Can there be options to change that? And, can there be the option to shut off the thumbnail photos when printing because the photos are too small to be helpful anyway---either turn them off or make them larger.
In short, can we have more printing options?
PS- I like the pdf outputting.

Making sure ads are "on target"Based on another post on this topic, it sounds like ad targeting by Google will be based on the description of the web computer. For example, if we put keywords like "church" or "Christian" in the description field of the web computer will that cause the ads to be targeted to the church demographic? If so what keywords should be used there, or are there other ways to tag the Web Computer for the appropriate ads? As long as there are going to be ads, they may as well be something that our users might actually buy!
I'm trying to make sure that ad content on our web computers is not inappropriate for our users.
Thanks for your help.
A comment on the question "Avoiding Sync Disaster" in AirSet:
Don't want to use any of the old Outlook appointments or contacts in Airset. Is there a way to simply delete all old files from Outlook and my PDA and repopulate those databases with the data from my Airset calendar and contact list? Is the export function (to a vCard file, etc.) the best way to do that? Or is there another way to just overwrite old Outlook data with what's in my Airset computer? – Summiteer, on March 20, 2009 14:39
Summiteer replied to "Lingerie ads and church groups", but it was removed. see the change log

Avoiding Sync DisasterTo sync with my PDA and Vista, I had to upgrade to Outlook 2003. I synced once with Airset and then with my handheld (Windows Mobile) and got duplicates so I deleted the appointments and contacts in my handheld and in Outlook. Now, I'm concerned that to run Desktop Sync I'm going to delete my Airset contacts. Would a reinstall of Desktop Sync eliminate that possibility? Or...?

Lingerie ads and church groupsI've got over a dozen groups set up, so obviously I won't be using the premium service--maybe one is all I could afford ($60/month for all the groups at one church...yikes!). Her's my question: Most of my groups (web computers) are for church organizations. Some ad material I've seen would be objectionable in that context. How can I make certain that ads are targeted for the church demographic?
By the way, although I block ad content at every opportunity on my browser, I understand the need to be profitable. The free service has been a great run, and I can't say I'm thrilled to see the change, but I understand. If I'm going to continue to be an enthusiastic supporter, though, I need to know I'm not going to be advertising lingerie and Viagra to the prayer team (if ever there was an invitation for a wisecrack, there it is...).
A comment on the question "I accidentally spanned my HTML nodes (whaa?)" in AirSet:
Based on y'all's info, I went to the html page and noted that I'd tried to change the default font size of the text before attaching the link. Getting rid of the enhancement cleared up the problem. Thanks for the help. It pointed me in the right direction. Now, if I want larger text, I wait until AFTER I set the link. That seems to solve the problem. Thanks! – Summiteer, on February 16, 2009 15:44

I accidentally spanned my HTML nodes (whaa?)What does it mean when the web publish application returns: Can't create a link when selection spans html nodes? Is there a solution that can be understood by an html doofus? I still want to create a link but I certainly don't want to span any nodes...sounds embarrassing.
A comment on the problem "Recent Activity link seems broken..." in AirSet:
Just as I was about to write and say that I still had the problem, I thought to clear the cache in Firefox....Voila! Problem solved. – Summiteer, on January 17, 2009 05:36

Recent Activity link seems broken...I wanted to check out recent activity and got this prompt:
Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.
Is that my problem or something else? I did try again at different times and the problem persists. It's not urgent, but I'd like to put a link to the main page.

Auto-dial from Airset address bookI notice that there is an auto-dial feature when you click on a phone number in the address book. When I do this Firefox tells me it doesn't know what to do with the "callto protocol". I would like it to default to my Voip phone (I'm using MagicJack). Is there a way to do that?-

A comment on the idea "web-based application" in AirSet:
Thanks for asking, Jim. Actually I haven't been trying to push Airset at all because I'm waiting for the new UI. To try to get my technophobes online with Airset is hard enough without getting them used to an interface that is going to change, so I've been sitting tight and waiting for the roll out. I'll let you know what happens. – Summiteer, on December 04, 2008 02:37
A comment on the question "How do you get others to use AirSet?" in AirSet:
Great ideas! Sometimes I'm a bit reluctant to "push" an idea, but when there is a good tool it's probably necessary to do a little prodding. Part of the problem is that some of our group's members are a bit behind the curve on their computer knowledge. I guess it's up to me to bring them into the 21st century! Thanks! – Summiteer, on November 14, 2008 15:38
Summiteer asked a question in AirSet on November 13, 2008 04:39:
How do you get others to use AirSet?I am an enthusiastic advocate for AirSet, but I can't seem to get through to people how awesome it is. I wind up being the only active user in 10 groups. I say, "Hey, there's this great tool. It's like a shared computer..." and they smile and nod as if to say, "That's nice." Often, if they do try it out, they give up quickly before they see the value. What is the "magic carrot" that gets the attention of the uninitiated and gets them to give AirSet the attention it deserves.
Any ideas?
