have a questionaire that users can completeOne of the things that I think is missing is the ability to have users include information when they post e.g. an issue they are experiencing.
This is a bit tricky to explain exactly what I mean, so let me give an example:
Say I am writing about an issue to do with Microsoft Office, and the Microsoft reps basically have to ask the same question every single time, namely "What version of Windows are you using?"
Surely there could be something that the user can (optionally) fill in when reporting any problem in the Microsoft Office forum, to say "I am using Windows xxxx"?
Obviously the implementation of it is entirely up to you, but I think this could go a long way to making things a bit more streamlined?

using applescript to get amazon detailsI'm trying to create an applescript that will automatically create new items in the library from the list. However, if I use the
"set selected media to make new movie with properties"
command, there doesn't seem to be an opportunity to later search for the item details on amazon. What I am able to do is to then fill in the "Amazon Link" field and then hit "refresh from amazon" but this only pulls through some of the information.
is there another way of doing this?

Redemption wiki/documentationThere's a wiki for Redemption available now, which has documentation for usage, and also information related to using Redline.
You can find it at http://sites.google.com/a/surrealroad...

Redemption build 5 now availableBuild 5 is now available (the Windows version is still unchanged).
Noteworthy changes are the separation of metadata and user colour settings, and the addition of multiple batch-processing templates.
Changes:
1. Import update method now matches by Reel, Camera, Clip, Start TOD Timecode and Date rather than filename.
2. There are two sets of colour parameters, one for the clip’s metadata and another, user-defined one. Importing CSV files will only write to the metadata parameters.
3. Added button to paste colour parameters from metadata.
4. Added button to reset colour parameters to defaults.
5. Added an ID field to clips table for indexing purposes.
6. Added infrastructure for multiple project tracking (note multiple projects are not implemented yet...)
7. Added template tags for metadata values. For example {ISO Meta} will be replaced with the value stored in the ISO metadata field. {ISO} will be replaced by the custom ISO value.
8. Added ability to copy and paste values via a “colour clipboard”.
9. Redline-specific options have been placed into their own tab under the revamped “Batch script generation” area.
10. You can now create and work with multiple templates.
11. Added some text to the UI to make the purpose of different sections a little clearer.
12. Added {RedDate} template tag, which uses the older (6-digit) method of calculating the numeric date value. New templates now use this method for the output path by default.
13. Added a button to generate some example templates.
Jack James replied on April 11, 2008 07:32 to the problem "Quicktime Stills Grab not working properly?" in Surreal Road:
the idea behind this feature is that as well as generating the still, it also copies it into the database, so you have a reference image available at all times. Once in the database, you can ctrl/right-click on it to save a copy elsewhere.
You can also add the image to the database manually by clicking the image placeholder

Jack James replied on April 10, 2008 07:30 to the problem "Quicktime Stills Grab not working properly?" in Surreal Road:
The quicktime still frame function is done using applescript so it's not going to be perfect. The stills are written to the {Path to Reel} location, which is automatically calculated, and should be one level up from the footage.
For example if you have:
/Volumes/disk/047/A047_C001_080224.RDC/A047_C001_080224_001.R3D
then the still is written here:
/Volumes/disk/047/
because different builds of the red camera firmware can produce different filename structures, it's possible that {Path to Reel} might not be getting calculated properly. The thing to do is go to records for clips where the import didn't work, and on the clip details page, try the grab still button (just under the image placeholder). If that doesn't work, let me know what you have as the filename for that clip.

Redemption build 3 now availableBuild 3 of Redemption (Mac and Filemaker source only) is now available.
What's new:
1. Added growl support (Mac OS X only)
2. Added the ability to highlight/select individual clips
3. Added the option to limit exported batch list to selected clips
4. Added {ResizeX} and {ResizeY} template tags
5. ISO value is now stored per clip
6. Added a button to run redline command from clip record (Mac OS X only)
7. Fixed {Path to Reel} tag to account for 2-digit year formatting of date
8. Added buttons to generate a reference image and insert it into the current clip record or for all clips (Mac OS X only)*
9. Added buttons to insert QuickTime proxy into the current clip record or for all clips (Mac OS X only)*
10. Prompts to automatically insert QuickTime proxies or stills after import
11. Added a button to the help page to execute the redline csv generation (Mac OS X only)
12. Separated out some of the data to help facilitate some sort of upgrade functionality in future versions
13. Shows random images on front page
*Note these functions require the Red QuickTime codecs to be installed, that the QuickTime wrappers have been created, and that the filepath is set as an absolute path (i.e. “/Volumes/Disk Drive/Folder/file”)

Redemption by Surreal Road available for free downloadWe've decided to release "Redemption" the application we've been using internally to track and manage the Red camera clip metadata for free (under a GPL) along with the Filemaker Pro source.
Right now it's mainly useful as a front-end for Redline, for building batch scripts and so on.
Some of its "features":
* import a redline csv file
* add notes and images to clips for reference
* print a log of all the data, broken down by reel
* specify redline command parameters
I'll get a proper webpage with more information soon, but for those who want to get their teeth into it, you can access the app (mac only at the moment) and the filemaker pro source from http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=57...
Feedback welcome

i want to add a plug for this too. Right now I'm using parallels on a mac which loads a windows xp installation that has its own rescue time instance running. it works great except that the parallels app itself shows up in the list. i would imagine the same could be said for things like remote desktop clients...
