Hey this is Krista from Snapvine. Thanks so much for letting us know. We’re aware of the problem and actively working to correct it as soon as possible.
Luckily, there's temporary fix. The error appears to be happening only on voice players with no comments. So for now, you can just add a voice comment and then you should be able to use the embed code to copy the player onto your profile.

ummmm, thanks Eric, but i think i already said all that if you read above. I haven't deleted the messages on it and it hasn't given me the html error code in about 12 hours now so i'm confident that the whole lack of messages thing was causing it. So yes, don't delete the messages from snapvine until you start getting some from friends. XD Granny, I wasn't auto posting to my site. for some reason i never trust giving my login info to a site, whether its respected or not. However when you click on the code to paste it does automatically copy the code to your clipboard so its pretty automated anyway regardless of doing it yourself which leaves little room for personal screw-ups.thanks to both Granny and Eric for the idea of leaving yourself a comment so that you can delete the ones from the creators, good idea if i do say so myself

Okay you guys check it out. The voice player says this HTML thing BECAUSE if you have no messages on it, the player recognizes that its missing a code ( no messages to play ). Ergo, why it only doesnt work when you delete the default messages. SO. your only options at this point are to call your voice player and leave a cheap 1 second comment or to leave the default messages and wait for a friend to post a voice comment. THEN after u have one comment ( your cheap one, or your friends comment ) THEN you can delete the default messages. HOPE I HELPED Y'ALL OUT!

Punk, having a dial-up connection is archaic and I agree, but believe it or not, some do still have it. You can always send yourself a comment, if you don't want the creators message to be your only commenter.
Hope this is the solution. Having at least one comment on your player, and an intro would seemingly be needed as well.
There are also sites (MySpace) that have preferences that can be set to not accept html codes and sometimes that is the problem.
Granny Joan replied on August 04, 2008 07:17 to the question "Why am I getting HTML error code?" in Snapvine:
When I try to copy and paste the code to a site like eBlogger, I get a message that ' Your HTML cannot be accepted: Tag is not closed: ... ' . I added a closing to the end of the code and it worked just fine. As I stated above if you want to submit your embed code that shows up in the textbox to the staff, this might help them in figuring out what is wrong with the code.

thank you granny for explaining that, i had no idea that the preview player showing up could have been caused by such a small thing as a dial-up connection, though i do think that anyone that still has dial-up in this day and age is pretty foolish. I don't want you to think that i was trying to be hurtful in anyway in saying what i did, i just didn't see the usefulness of the specific troubleshooting question you were asking at the time. anyway, getting back to the problem at hand, i created yet another account on snapvine and put in a intro and a picture and copied the code to my myspace. so far its been about 20 minutes and it hasn't had the problem "yet". hopefully it stays that way. it seems that you need at least one voice comment on your voice player to actually make the thing work so deleting the voice comments from the creators seems to be what is causing the problem. i know it's annoying, but its like having Tom on your friend list on myspace, you may not want him there, but he seems to come in handy every now and again...lol. anyway, i hope this solution works for some people and i hope it works for me! i'll try deleting the voice messages from the creators once i start getting some voice messages of my own and if i have anymore problems i'll be sure to post them.

Punk, Rissa above left a screen shot that stated that her preview player was unable to load. I know that this can occur with those who are on dialup connection! She indicated that 'this was a problem' before ever copying and pasting the code. I was concerned with the fact that her preview player was not loading. Sometimes people, relay to the Snapvine staff such limited information, that it is hard for them to solve the problem at hand. I have seen people on this message board state " How do I put this on my bebo page/acount " ... Do you believe this makes sense to those trying to help. It is important to give all the information possible about browser, machine type, and situation and as many steps to create the problem at hand. I am not a staff member and I do have programming experience. I would hope that all would pitch in to help others that might be having a problem. This is the weekend and most of the Snapvine staff I hope are home enjoying their weekend and lives.
Cheers and hope that your solution will help others and also the staff.

you know what? the same freaking thing just happened again! it was working for a few minutes and then it just gave me the html error code again. I have another possible cause though. I think it has to do with deleting the default messages you get from the creators. it was working fine until i deleted the voice comments from them. it's a possible cause, i will post back soon when i find out if it is the actual cause...

one last thing, and this is to Granny Joan. i don't like to criticize people much but i thought i'd stick my head out there and say "huh?" i mean what the heck would dial-up internet have to do with improper html code. it's a software issue on the basic level and would have nothing to do with bandwidth, especially knowing the information that other people's voice comment boxes were showing up just fine for the people with the problem in question. I know you were only trying to help but if you can't think of a plausible cause then don't just say anything because you've run out of good troubleshooting questions. On the otherhand, reading some of your other responses does lead me to believe that you do know a bit about troubleshooting internet and software problems. But what do they teach you in school? Usually the simplest answer is right one. Hope this gives you some foresight with troubleshooting in the future... of course in a perfect world you wouldn't have to troubleshoot over a message board waiting hours for a response so i know it does get difficult. :P

well son of a monkeys uncle, it worked! it seems that recording a outgoing message "after" you have already picked a skin and posted the code screws up the html somehow. =P goes to show you that they haven't worked all the kinks out yet, so if anyone else is having this problem as explained by rissa above with the snapshot of the desktop (which was very helpful btw) then this is the cause of and solution to the problem. just create a new account and record your intro "FIRST" before anything else.

i have the same problem as rissa and i guess everyone else on here. it seems that it started happening "after" i recorded an intro, but before that it was working just fine. i am going to try to make a new account and record an intro "before" ever picking a skin and maybe that is the key since when i recorded it after picking a skin, and copy and pasting the code to myspace, it didn't work. I'll repost if it works
