Hello Chacal,
Thank you for posting.
The definition updates may be getting stuck on an old definitions download.
Try clearing out your history and temp files from Internet Explorer, then try to download again.
If that does not work, follow the directions below to manually update your definitions.
Save the following zip file to your computer.
http://tinyurl.com/6566qw
CounterSpy v3 Defintion Instructions
Unzip the file and move the contense of the folder to the Vipre folder in
C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\CounterSpy\Definitions\
You will want to replace all the files of the same name that already in the folder. Make sure you have CounterSpy shutdown during this process or the files will not copy over.
If this does not work for you, please contact our support dept and we will have someone work with you to resolve this issue.

Thanks Jamie - that's great news. And thanks Mike for wading in too, it's never fun being a flak-catcher! – stilt, on September 04, 2008 00:34

Whilst appreciative of a response from Mike which explains the issue, as another reseller I would have to agree with the thrust of CaptnMels's comments. I would like to see a response from Sunbelt ASAP which provides a solution such that this situation does not ever occur again. Without that solution, marketing of the product becomes questionable. – OzziBob, on September 03, 2008 06:06

Thanks Mike, any chance you could outline for us the proposed resolution path for this issue within Sunbelt? Releasing on holidays (I'm sure this would be the preferred solution!)? Not automatically flagging as OOD? – stilt, on September 03, 2008 04:22

Since I am a reseller, I thank you for your vague response and your confidence that a new definition file "should" be sent out today. Our novice customers dont hesitate to call our office and complain. Even if we are up to date, your nice little long weekend sure is costing me time and unhappy customers. Starting to re-think my decision to sell your product. – CaptnMel, on September 03, 2008 04:16

LOL! No update on holidays? Virusmakers are happy :)
I try out the 15days trial with Vipre, and yes it is a light product but the update service is bad.
Now I use BitDefender, no problem at all, light on system resources and many updates every day include holidays ;) Maybe I go back to Vipre if Sunbelt can fix all problems.

Thank you for posting your questions. When the definition file is more than seventy two hours old, they are automatically flagged as Out of Date.
Because of the holiday weekend and the offices being closed it's been a little longer than seventy two hours since version 2210 was posted. We should be sending out a new definition file later today, correcting the issue.
I apologize for the inconvenience, but assure you that you are up to date.
