Kat Brennan replied on December 06, 2008 18:56 to the question "Which local metropolitian area does my zipcode fall in?" in TeeBeeDee:
Hi,
Our Postal Code-Metro Area function doesn't read all zip codes, so when you add yours it will trigger the nearest city or town in the system, and this will govern the results of searches for "Members Near Me." If your specific location isn't reflected I recommend adding it to the text of your profile so members who view you will know where you're located.

Kat Brennan replied on August 20, 2008 20:12 to the problem "Discussion alerts" in TeeBeeDee:
This is the latest from TeeBeeDee engineer, GregSherwin:
Apologies for the confusing interface for the time being. When we first launched Group alerts, people who joined a group received alerts not only for new discussions and comments in their chosen discussions, but also for every comment made within any discussion in the same group (wasn't designed that way, which is another story, but that's what came out). A number of users complained loudly that they were overwhelmed by the volume of alerts and that they felt a bit "spammed" by it all.
As we currently have it implemented, the software that supports alerts for non-group discussions currently also runs on the group discussions - and for ALL the discussions in a group. So we had to make a quick decision until we can make and verify the right change. Because the current software leaves it sort of as an all-or-nothing proposition, we decided to temporarily appease the members who felt they were getting too many alerts from groups. Therefore alerts in groups now are only for new discussions, and when you start a discussion, and we know that the current Web site leaves the false impression that you can subscribe to comment alerts within a single group discussion.
This means those who want alerts on comments in groups won't receive them until we come up with a better product solution and some additional software changes. It is definitely a broken user experience, but we opted to error on the side of not overloading users' inboxes. Even if the current language in the group discussions for subscribing to alerts now leaves the wrong impression. We'll definitely be cleaning that up in a future release.
In the meantime, non-group discussion alerts still message on new comments.
A comment on the question "How do I become a TeeBeeDee Founding Member?" in TeeBeeDee:
Hi TeeBeeDee members,
New folks will no longer be awarded Founding Member status in the near future, but for the time being the status is awarded when you complete your profile, add a photo or other identifying image, and answer a minimum of five of the TeeBeeDee "Quickees."
Cheers!

Hi Judy,
Welcome to TeeBeeDee. Get Satisfaction is a tool to help our members with questions about the site, e.g., how to change a user name, how to add friends to your profile, how to upload photos, etc. You want to post personal comments such as yours on TeeBeeDee's main interface. I would recommend you post these comments at our "Welcome Lounge," a group for folks new to TeeBeeDee. Here's a link: http://www.tbd.com/group/50/view
And feel free to drop me a private message if you have any questions.
Best,
Kat Brennan (akabukowski)

On Firefox:
Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Private Data -> Settings
Check everything except “Saved Passwords.” This will clear more than your cache and cookies, but it should clear up the problem. If you only want to clear cache and cookies specifically, you can just check those.
On Internet Explorer
Tools -> Internet Options -> Browsing History -> Delete... -> Delete Files, Delete Cookies, Delete History, Delete Forms

Go to a free utility like http://www.shrinkpictures.com/
Follow the instructions on that page. At step 2, "Select New Maximum Image Dimension," select 350.
Ignore steps 3 and 4.
Click “Resize” and save your new photo to your hard drive. Try uploading this new photo. That should work!

Kat Brennan replied on February 26, 2008 20:20 to the question "What is the Friend Finder?" in TeeBeeDee:
The Friend Finder is a service that helps you easily locate friends who are already TeeBeeDee Members, as well as invite your webmail contacts who aren't on TeeBeeDee yet.
Here's how it works: When you enter your Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, or Gmail address and password (which we won't store), TBD compares your address book with registered email addresses on the site. If there is a match, you will be able to see their profile and add them as a friend with just one click. You can also easily invite the webmail contacts who aren't members of TeeBeeDee.
Note: We respect our members' privacy! We will not send any communication to your friends without your permission. Those members who set their email addresses to "private" will not show up in the Friend Finder. The default privacy setting is "Members can find me with this email address." You can always adjust your privacy settings in your Profile.
When the Friend Finder goes live on January 17th, only new registrants will be able to use it during the sign-up process. However, in the coming months you'll be able to use this tool for any groups that you've started or are a member of. It will also be available on the Friends page of your profile. We hope it makes networking a whole lot easier.
Please note that our Privacy Policy has been updated to describe our new Friend Finder feature.
If you have any questions, please send an email to friendfinder@tbd.com.
Kat Brennan replied on February 26, 2008 20:19 to the question "How do I cancel my TeeBeeDee membership?" in TeeBeeDee:
To cancel your TeeBeeDee membership, just send an email to memberservices@TeeBeeDee.com with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject line. So we may authenticate you, make sure that your email request originates from the email address you used to create your TeeBeeDee membership. You'll receive a cancellation notice from someone on the TeeBeeDee Team.
If you don't mind telling us, we'd love to hear why you want to leave. While TeeBeeDee is in development, getting your feedback makes a big difference. If there's something you hoped to find at TeeBeeDee but didn't, tell us what it is. If something's bugging you, let us know and we'll do our best to fix it.
