Yeah, that doesn't actually work. It changes the resolution alright, but keeps it on the main MBP display. – Telecart, on April 04, 2009 13:14

A comment on the idea "Add proxy services into the Boxee (free and pay services) to access Hulu etc" in boxee:
There's absolutely nothing illegal about using a proxy or VPN. Nothing in US or international law speaks about keeping non-US residents from watching US-made TV. It's a contractual matter between the content-providers and hulu, not a legal matter anyone else should care about. Though possibly, Boxee in their contract with Hulu might have such caveats. – Telecart, on February 09, 2009 15:47

The Download feature: RSS Broadcatching, WebUI, and moreI grab most of my TV viewing these days via Bittorrent RSS broadcatching.
For those unfamiliar;
Basically an RSS Feed scanner within or outside your bittorrent client scans the relevant feeds (http://tvrss.net/...) looking for matching Regular Expressions (such as battlestar.galactica.+([ph]dtv|dsrip) ). It then automagically downloads new files that appear on the feed and loads them in your bittorrent client, using smart episode managers to make sure you only download something once.
Anyway, Boxee's download feature will only be useful to me with an RSS autodownloader. However, it'll need some kind of smart tv show implementation, because people aren't going to type in regex on their AppleTVs. Something like ted (http://www.ted.nu/) where you just choose the shows is probably the way to go.
Obviously, implementing a smart episode handler - one that takes care of PROPER releases too is important as well.
Additionally, there should be a way to initiate a download from within Boxee. Basically, this means a search feature. While I'm partial to the idea of having a browser within Boxee, the bare minimum is to connect to a public torrent tracker search api. If there would be a browser, private trackers become a viable option too, which is great.
Another important feature I'd like to see is a WebUI. I don't know that the rest of Boxee needs to be controlled via the web, but anything to do with acquisitions/downloads/recordings/timers should be accessible via a WebUI.

Metadata retrieval filtersI have my TV shows and my Film downloads in separate folders on my drive, however I can't seem to be able to tell Boxee there's a difference, so often films and tv shows get mixed up metadata - like the BBC series "I, Caesar" got the image and description for the epic film 'Caesar'.
Obviously I can change that manually (though I don't see that changes are taking effect..), but being able to add at least a tv show vs movie filter should help.
I assume other filters are possible which could help with the retrieval of metadata - depending on what people sort by, language certainly, maybe year, genre... Probably others too.

Multiple (External) Monitor (esp. TV) SupportI have a vague memory that this worked once, so it might just be broken in the latest version.
Anyway, I have a TV connected to my Macbook Pro, but when I run Boxee, it defaults to the main laptop monitor.
I can then move it to windows mode, drag it to the external monitor display, and Fullscreen it again, but thats fux0red and does weird resolution things I don't want to know about.
Ideally, Boxee would have an external monitor tab in the settings where I'd tell it to default to my external monitor (if present), and blacken my main display like in VLC.-

Clearly, you either have no conception of what quality customer service comprises of, or, you are a troll. Either way, discussion over. – Telecart, on August 14, 2008 23:07

Hufsa, you are aware of the fact that twitter is not a pro bono organization. They provide a service, and while I'm not privy to their business model, I'm pretty sure they do intend to eventually monetize on it. Thus, as customers, potentially paying customers (whether via advertisement or subscription or whatever other model they plan on) of the service twitter provides, we are certainly allowed to express our disdain when a service we have come to expect and some even rely on is revoked without warning.
I know twitter is in perpetual beta, and that its service in many respects has been flaky, but they just raised a lot of money. I, for one, did not expect this. – Telecart, on August 14, 2008 17:16
