It was also reported on OrlandoSentinel and Mcall.com sites as well. And yes we also suspect there is a JS collision of some sort but since we can't invest much more developer time on this issue and we can remedy the problem by removing the Feedback widget, we have given markets the option to remove the widget, as noted SunSentinel has already opted for the removal.

IE8 Reload Page IssueCustomer's are reporting a weird reloading effect on IE8 browsers. Pages go into a perpetual reload of pages where we have the Feedback widget positioned. We are uncertain of root cause but after numerous hours of debugging the issue we have discovered of a fix. Essentially, if we remove the Feedback widget from the page the problem goes away. Unfortunately, the problem is not easily recreatable as the issue does not happen consistently on all IE8 browsers, but for the users that report the problem we can remedy it by removing the widget all of the time.
To date SunSenitinel.com has requested the removal of the widget until issue is resolved. We anticipate other sites will soon follow suit.

Please review http://baltimoresun.com - The code has been changed- now the Widget JS is out of the container div tag now, but as you can see, it still does not scroll correctly in IE6. – Teresa Chavez, on June 17, 2009 21:48

Just to clarify the feedback JS is now no longer within the our container div tag,
as before, but it just is not scrolling with user. The change is on our dev environment. Our site is live and I cannot do a build right now. Let me see if I could replicate the issue on a test site for you to see. – Teresa Chavez, on June 16, 2009 23:10

I have the changed made to our development environment to no avail.
Essentially I moved the JS to the end of html and no cigar. It does not work in IE6 V6.2900.2180
Thank you in advance for your help - we are redesigning all of Tribune Company's web sites (chicagotribune.com, baltimoresun.com, sun-sentinel.com, and 7 more) and we have a real strict QA. Unfortunately we still need to support IE6 – Teresa Chavez, on June 16, 2009 22:45

The issue can be seen at http://baltimoresun.com -- note the feedback widget attaches itself to the page - instead of always being visible. – Teresa Chavez, on June 16, 2009 22:12
