Adam Lasnik asked a question in foursquare on September 03, 2009 07:49:
Android app complained about duplicate that wasn't a duplicateI attempted to sign in to a venue in Mountain View, CA ("Cheryl Burke Dance Studio") using the new Android app, and it gave me a Duplicate error. Yes, there's also a Cheryl Burke Studio in San Francisco, but the system correctly detected and inputted Mountain View.
Is it simply not possible to check in to places in Mountain View? Or was this a bug in the app? Or something else?
Thanks in advance for filling me in.
A comment on the question "Summary: Added Apture links, but they later disappeared. How can I fix this?" in Apture, Inc.:
To clarify, you'll notice that the "Nine out of Line" video that I linked post-publishing with Apture is still linked. But the Bach link (also done post-publishing) is one of the three that disappeared. – Adam Lasnik, on August 01, 2009 08:17

Thanks for your quick reply! Here are details on the three disappeared links:
The three missing links:
- "a 1.5 minute segment of a Bach piece" from
http://www.adamlasnik.net/me/music.htm
- "etherpad" from http://www.adamlasnik.net/sandbox.htm
- "cats" from http://www.adamlasnik.net/me/my-arran...
(I ended up re-linking this a few hours later).
(re the not-fully loading... odd, I'm not having that problem from either work or home today, but I do recall that the Facebook widget was loading slowly).

Summary: Added Apture links, but they later disappeared. How can I fix this?I added a number of Apture links that showed up when I first checked, but a few hours later they were no longer appearing on the same static page/URL. I sent a notice last night to feedback@, but wasn't sure if that was the right address for problems, so here I am :). My site is adamlasnik.net. Could you kindly let me know what might cause links to disappear? Thanks!

Issues parsing account numbers and phone numbersI'm loving the service overall, but minorly frustrated that it seems to have problems with parsing numbers. On one hand, it seems to want to view credit card numbers as phone numbers, and on the other hand, it doesn't like full phone numbers in the form +1-xxx-abc-defg (with +1 being the country code in this case).
More fine-tuned parsing, of course, would be awesome... but in the meantime, a way to add a punctuation character to *not* have it parse something would be cool, perhaps :)
Thanks!

Trying to connect my Otherinbox to Gmail, but can't complete setup. In all three of my browsers, the list of connected mailboxes extends beyond one page, and there is no scrollbar, no way to see the other mailboxes or accept the settings.

Adam Lasnik replied on January 31, 2009 03:49 to the question "Can you please tell me the options for getting gmail into oib?" in OtherInbox:
Hi, Hoon,
Thank you for your quick response!
Here are some more details about what I'm considering doing.
I have mydomain.com and I have signed up all over the place with various services as servicename-bulk@mydomain.com. I set up a rule that *-bulk@mydomain.com gets sent to my personal Gmail account.
For instance...
- amazon-bulk@mydomain.com
- unitedairlines-bulk@mydomain.com
Benefit of this: dictionary attacks are ineffective, because sales@mydomain.com or even amazon@mydomain.com go to the bit bucket :). Also, in the past, when a company spammed me (e.g., somejerkycompany-bulk@mydomain.com), I was easily and quickly able to set up a folder to delete mail to that address.
Still, I'm fascinated by the prospect of having this bulk mail go BOTH to Gmail (to be archived and found using Gmail's powerful search features) and ALSO go to OIB to be automatically sorted into folders (e.g., Amazon, Unitedairlines) and read.
Hope that helps clarify what I'm interested in doing.

Can you please tell me the options for getting gmail into oib?I currently have a Google Apps account, and I have it automatically forward mail to my personal Gmail account. It seems to me that I might have two options:
- Try out the IMAP alpha option (once it's enabled in my account ;-) to suck in the e-mails from my Gmail account.
- Use the auxiliary e-mail routing option in Google Apps (http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/a...) to have mail sent to BOTH oib and my Gmail.
Your thoughts?

Please enable us to create widgets that we can add to Google SitesHi there,
I'm making some music-oriented pages on a Google Sites site, and while I've found or figured out how to make embeddable iGoogle gadgets for imeem, ilike, and other options, I've not been able to figure out how to integrate Grooveshark tunes into my site (Google Sites doesn't allow the embedding of arbitrary javascript/flash code).
One way around this would be to create a separate mini page and iframe it for every Grooveshark song, but that'd be a bummer.
Could you kindly look into making a gadget for Grooveshark... specifically one that'd let the user input a specific song, album, or playlist to be embedded? Details on the Google Gadget API are here: http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/
Thanks! :)-

For some reason, I'm not able to send mail from one of the domains I've added. It seems to have been successfully added (email.mypersonaldomain.net), because when I send to adam@email.mypersonaldomain.net, it shows up in OIB. But the dropdown in the compose screen only lets me send from mailboxes within myusername.otherinbox.com :(

Thanks for thinking about privacy from the get-go. Don't want everyone knowing that I'm adding "I'm a Barbie Girl" or whatever :P. On a different note, though, I hope you'll also enable a way for users to push "newly uploaded" or "newly added to a playlist" feeds. In a nutshell, I'd like the ability to share songs (via RSS) with people without having to explicitly "favorite" or play tracks.
Adam Lasnik replied on December 12, 2008 07:57 to the question "Can't delete or edit songs I've uploaded" in Grooveshark:
Appreciate the kind reply. Oh, and one more thing to consider if you let people edit songs... especially if you enable them to upload a high-fidelity version, or even just upload a new version of the song with updated tags -- you may want to give people an option of whether to maintain the same locator reference, so that any widgets, playlists, etc. that contain those songs won't get borked. Just a thought :)
But as low-hanging fruit, I think it'd be great if you'd tackle the simple "delete this track" in the near term. Thanks!

Please publish RSS/XML feeds so I can use Grooveshark with FriendfeedCould you please support FriendFeed and the robust community there? All you have to do is somehow enable the publishing of songs / playlists in XML/RSS format, so FriendFeed can parse and display it. And of course, these items would link directly back to Grooveshark, giving you lots of great publicity. [I don't work for FriendFeed; I'm just a very enthusiastic user of the service]
